[Vivian Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero's Purple Melody: Backlit Convention Photos

Preparing this Vivian cosplay look from Zenless Zone Zero—from initial makeup tests to finally landing at the convention floor—took me quite a long time. The convention coincided with a Zenless Zone Zero Creator Incentive Program session, so I wanted to seize the moment and present my absolute best state. Venue lighting on shoot day was better than expected; in particular, natural light poured in from behind through a massive floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall. While this backlit environment put the camera's dynamic range to the test, it perfectly highlighted the design layers of my outfit.

Speaking of hair and makeup for this cosplay, the most time-consuming item that required the most effort was definitely this silver-white long curly wig. To achieve that flowing, airy visual effect, I trimmed and adjusted the wig styling multiple times, adding numerous wig supports to hold the overall curvature. The final fluffy texture—seemingly light yet structurally solid—matched the original character design wonderfully. Pointed ears were crafted from specialized silicone, custom-colored to blend naturally with skin tones.

Moving on to garment tailoring and details: the outfit adopts a black-and-white contrast with techwear design language. The upper body features a white shirt paired with a black waist-cinching vest, decorated with neatly arranged straps and metal buckles that keep lines sharp and clean. Irregular geometric paneling along the skirt hem was a major highlight; to make layers stand out, I wore multi-layered petticoats underneath. Black stockings fit snugly against the skin, complementing black high heels accented with purple details to smooth leg contours seamlessly. The purple butterfly umbrella served as the soul prop for the entire look—the handle possessed a solid weight, and subtle patterns on the canopy created a perfect color harmony with the black, white, and purple hues of the costume.

To capture her elegant yet somewhat distant aura during shooting, I chose a single-leg standing pose. This posture actually demanded considerable core strength; I repeatedly adjusted angles to maintain center-of-gravity stability and composition balance. The photographer praised this angle continuously, noting that the reflective floor mirrored leg and shoe details completely, instantly bringing out visual depth in the frame.

Convention halls are typically crowded, but to achieve a clean and spacious feel for Anime-style photography, I intentionally ran into the center of this airy hall around noon or just before closing when foot traffic thinned out. Massive metal trusses and bright glass curtain walls maintained cool tones in post-processing. I felt the contrast between grand environment and refined character details completely maxed out the visual mood.

Ultimately, engaging in Casual cosplay is never as simple as putting on an outfit. From hair, makeup, poses, and expressions to subtle eye contact with the camera, every detail works to construct a complete character image. Receiving appreciation at the Zenless Zone Zero Creator Incentive Program event while meeting fellow fans made me immensely happy.
