[Cerydra Cosplay] Documenting the Chrysos Heirs Look from Honkai: Star Rail

Today I'm sharing Cerydra from the Chrysos Heirs faction in Honkai: Star Rail. Actually, the process of cosplaying this character was quite funny—since her default outfit hasn't officially been implemented in the game yet, combined with my long straight hair featuring white with light blue highlights, several people at the convention immediately mistook me for a different character. Every time that happened, I had to patiently explain and joke around a bit, which turned out to be a very memorable interaction at the convention.

First impressions aside, after carefully restoring this look, Cerydra's own design elements are actually exceptionally refined. Starting with the most striking headpiece: as you can tell from the pictures, the headpiece is predominantly white, outlined with black and gold lines, and inlaid with two very eye-catching blue-green gems. When preparing this prop, I specifically selected acrylic material that could refract translucent luster under the mall's top lights to craft the gems, giving the resulting photos a very realistic texture. The white base was carefully polished using EVA foam to create undulating curves, deliberately preserving that sacred feel of an ancient civilization.

The wig could be called the soul of this look. To recreate the ice-blue gradient tips and the distinct geometric bangs, I spent a lot of effort trimming it. Although it's a layered style, trimming the outer sideburns into sharp lines paired with straight bangs frames the face shape wonderfully. The light blue four-pointed star patch in the middle of the forehead is also a highly recognizable mark of the character. To make it stick tightly to my skin, I repeatedly adjusted the angle when applying makeup and even checked the mirror from time to time at the convention to ensure it wouldn't shift due to sweat or movement.

For the costume part, I chose an unconventional route, eschewing extravagant fantasy armor in favor of a clean, basic white shirt instead. This choice actually fits her cool, sacred character aura better. The white shirt not only sets off the color layering of the headpiece and wig nicely, but also conveys a relaxed and fresh visual feel. The black and cyan ribbon at the collar serves as a balancer for the whole outfit; to add a sense of quality, I specifically picked satin fabric with a subtle sheen. Under the venue's lighting, the cyan ribbon shimmered with a subtle deep-blue glow, forming a brilliant color echo with the gems on the headpiece and giving the overall look a unified, harmonious sense of visual breathing space.

In terms of makeup, the base was applied sheer and translucent, focusing on building an eye makeup atmosphere. I used low-saturation pinks overlaid with earth tones, paired with rounded light-blue contact lenses to highlight a look that is "cool yet gentle." Seeing me pursing my lips into a subtle smile in the photos was actually a deliberate micro-expression designed for the camera. Although Cerydra has a somewhat aloof atmosphere, I feel she can also have a playful, vivid side. So the meme "I'm the Empress after all!" appearing in image three was a genuine reflection of me having fun during the shoot.

The location was chosen at a local commercial venue for Convention photos. The light sources on-site were quite complex, including cold white lights built into the shopping center and ceiling lights in the hall. When processing the final images, I deliberately kept some original skin texture and natural shadows without over-smoothing. For cosplay, leaving natural traces in a real convention environment actually brings you closer to the character than a flawless, heavily retouched photo—a detail that reflects my personal philosophy towards doing cosplay.

At this stage of my cosplay journey, rather than pure 1:1 recreation, I value incorporating my own understanding into the look to bring characters from 2D into reality. Even though Cerydra doesn't have many official art pieces yet, this gives us cosplayers plenty of imaginative space to play with. The white shirt, highly recognizable headpiece, and white-and-blue gradient long hair together form a three-dimensional Cerydra in my mind.
