The early preparation for the Alya photo set spanned quite a long time. To restore the character's texture, a lot of thought went into everything from wig trimming to the day of the shoot. As a Russian-Japanese mix, Alya's most iconic features are her silver-white long hair and the ahoge (idiot hair) resembling cat ears. I specifically had a wig stylist trim several versions, doing quite a bit of internal structural reinforcement to prop up the crown's curve, and fortunately, the final effect presented was very three-dimensional and natural. In terms of makeup, blue contact lenses are the soul of it; for the eye makeup, I toned down some of the red smudging, using eyeliner more to outline her usual sharp feel carrying a bit of coolness and tsundere, while retaining the softness of a young girl on the aegyo-sal.
The outfit is a classic dark blue uniform paired with a white blazer on the outside, and the red bow tie stands out exceptionally well against the white shirt. To perfectly recreate the 2D visual feel, I paired it with pure white pantyhose. In the classroom setting, the composition of sitting on a wooden desk photographs remarkably well. I tried a few different poses; in one of them, my legs hung naturally over the edge of the desk while turning slightly sideways, and the photographer used a slightly low angle to capture the leg lines and the texture of the white stockings very clearly. For another shot, I chose to sit sideways on the desktop, raising one hand as if trying to catch something. This action is actually a bit difficult and requires core strength to maintain balance, but the resulting effect is very lively.
Light and shadow in the classroom were a major bonus for this photo set. Sunlight filtering through the grid windows, combined with a reflector for fill light, made the overall color tone of the frame look clear and warm. I had the photographer take many pictures of me sitting on the desk or leaning against the chair, such as sitting cross-legged on the desktop with hands crossed supporting my chin, or leaning back against the chair. All these actions aimed to showcase the slight relaxation and cuteness Alya occasionally reveals when letting down her guard in her classroom daily life. Throughout the shoot, we kept discussing how to grasp the expression; being too stiff would look rigid, while being too relaxed would lose the character's traits, so many gazes were adjusted bit by bit while looking at the lens.
During the shoot, we also specially prepared some small props, such as the black student shoulder bag placed casually on a nearby desk, and the landscape painting on the easel, both of which made the classroom's atmospheric feel even more realistic. When posing, I would also make some adjustments based on the scene. For example, sitting on the chair with hands placed on the back of the chair and chin resting on the back of the hands, this posture not only showcases the details of the jacket's cuffs but also creates a stronger interactive feel when looking into the lens. When sitting cross-legged on the desk, because of the skirt, I needed to tidy up the skirt hem very carefully to ensure no wardrobe malfunction while also displaying natural pleats. The polishing of every small detail was to get closer to that tsundere girl softly speaking Russian beside the desk. Although this shoot took quite a long time, seeing the light, shadow, and colors of the final photos made all the hard work feel completely worth it.
