This shoot was set in a wooden terrace scene with Japanese elements. The combination of this traditional Japanese room and wisteria flowers perfectly matches Emilia's forest elf temperament. Choosing to shoot here is because the warm texture of the wood and natural light and shadows can form a soft yet cool visual contrast with the character's own cool-toned silver hair and purple eyes.
In terms of makeup and styling, to make the silver-white wig look more layered, I added a tiny bit of purple-gray gradient at the ends of the hair. At the same time, the braided pigtails on both sides of the forehead were the part that took the most thought during styling. For hair accessories, I chose white flowers and a metal-textured butterfly hairpin, which not only maintained her inherent sanctity but also added a touch of exquisiteness. Elf ears were the focus; I adjusted the angle when wearing them so that they could naturally blend into the contour of the hairstyle.
The overall costume features white and purple as its main color tones. The top adopts an off-the-shoulder and wide neckline design, which can wonderfully show off the shoulder and neck lines—a sense of lightness that this type of styling desperately needs to emphasize. The purple lantern sleeves are one of the visual centers of gravity of the entire garment. To make them look fluffy and full enough, the pleats were fixed a few times before wearing so they wouldn't collapse when striking poses. The light purple skirt hem on the lower body is dotted with small yellow patterns, paired with the outer layer of translucent tulle, creating a flowy feel when walking or sitting down.
In terms of props, the long sword with a light blue scabbard played a great balancing role. In the scene, the long sword is not only a decoration but also a tool to build poses. Holding it in arms or placing it horizontally in front makes the person's posture more stereoscopic. It was afternoon during the shoot, and the light source coming from the right was relatively strong, resembling sunset lighting, which made the wooden floor feel warm and gave both the hair and the blade a nice rim light.
For this shoot, I tried two different angles. The first photo is a relatively stable and proper composition with the subject centered, gaze looking straight into the lens, and the visual focus concentrated on the face and props, showing the character's relatively cool and detached side, very suitable as an official display image. For the second one, cooperating with the photographer, I adopted a tilted composition, with the camera angle slightly looking down and the frame tilted. Combined with the light and shadow on the wooden floor, this made the fantastic and dynamic atmosphere on-site even stronger.
Actually, the most interesting part of cosplay is restoring a 2D image into a real environment. The terrace scene was built with great care: the Japanese sliding doors in the back, the green teacup on the desk, the half-open oil-paper umbrella, and the surrounding cascading wisteria flowers and white hydrangeas—every detail subtly echoed the character's worldview. When shooting this set of photos, I tried to completely immerse myself into the character, not deliberately pursuing stereotypical poses, but letting the movements happen naturally with the on-site light and wind.
Of course, this costume also has quite a few challenges in terms of details, such as the weight of the wig and the fixing of the sleeves, which required constant tidying up during shooting breaks. However, I feel that it is precisely these tedious little details that make the final photos look more textured and vibrant. The character this time is relatively elegant and aloof in temperament, but my daily habit is to sincerely share the experience of each shoot. If everyone likes this style, maybe next time I can try other character stylings under the same worldview.
