Today, I wrapped up the shoot for this Wuthering Waves Aemeath look at the Buxun Image realistic studio in Kunming. The details of this outfit were far more complex than I had anticipated, especially the metallic buckles at the waist and the three-dimensional pleats along the gown's hem, which required meticulous adjustments once put on to achieve the best visual effect. The off-the-shoulder white design places high demands on the collarbone and neck contours, so warming up and stretching prior to shooting was essential to maintain an upright, poised posture.
For the hair and makeup, the long straight pink hair was paired with pale blue fin-like ear accessories; plenty of bobby pins and hairspray were used to secure the shape. Golden contact lenses paired with red eyeshadow blended under the eyes accentuated the character's extraordinary aura, which took considerable blending time. The crystal scepter prop in my hands features an illuminated module at the top, requiring pre-charging and testing; under dim ambient lighting, it refracted beautifully with the crystal beaded curtains across the studio, yielding a stunning result.
The shoot incorporated extensive reflective elements. White drapery and a mirrored floor provided ample diffused ambient light, though this also meant any stray thread or fabric crease would be magnified. To keep the high-heeled boots from slipping across the glossy floor, I had to be exceptionally cautious with every pose. Under the studio lighting, the white Stockings revealed a delicate semi-sheer luster which, paired with the blue lining beneath the skirt, established a cool-toned, high-fashion color palette.
To capture the spirit of the concert theme, I experimented with diverse seated and standing postures—such as using the crystal bead curtains as a foreground element or leveraging the couch to elongate leg lines. The gown has a voluminous train; sitting directly on the fabric would cause wrinkles, so staff assisted in fluffing and arranging the hemline with every position change. Despite the constant attention demanded by posture and props, seeing the finished photos made every adjustment worthwhile. In particular, the combination of white Stockings and heeled boots cast clear reflections on the mirrored floor, deepening the composition and elevating the overall styling. I fell in love with this set and its lighting, which breathed vivid life into the character design.
Furthermore, the pairing of crystal bead curtains and white satin drapery was truly divine, especially in Photo 3 where I sat on the couch—the photographer skillfully blurred the foreground beads to inject profound depth. The blue interior lining of the skirt peeked through here, creating a refreshing color contrast against the white exterior to prevent visual monotony. Holding the scepter demanded sustained arm engagement due to its weight, making my arms ache several times, yet holding firm was crucial to preserve visual tension. Accentuating the leg lines also benefited from the white Stockings and boot combo; even in a seated pose, slightly pointing my toes smoothed out the calf contours. The studio temperature was quite low that day, yet the intense heat of the studio lamps actually brought on a light sweat. Wearing the wig for hours became slightly stuffy, requiring extra caution during touch-ups to avoid smudging foundation onto the wig line. Getting into and out of this costume tested patience as well—the back lacing and buckles are nearly impossible to manage alone, making the backstage team's support invaluable. The tall heels paired with the slick mirrored floor meant engaging core balance continuously during standing poses, leaving my legs gently sore after each set. To highlight the scepter's internal luminescence on camera, we tested several fill-lighting setups, ultimately finding that dimming ambient lights slightly to let the prop's own glow assist the primary studio key lights yielded the best result. This project went beyond replicating the character's aesthetic—it was a sincere effort to capture the sensation of standing on stage bathed in light, delivering a deeply fulfilling cosplay experience.
