Today's shoot featured the Hsin styling, with an overall color palette centered around mint green, red, black, and white. Trimming and styling the wig took quite a bit of time, especially the tall beast ears on both sides, which required plenty of hairspray and internal wire support to maintain a fluffy yet structured volumetric effect. To recreate the character's eye makeup, I specially chose reddish-brown contact lenses and blended red totem print accents along the outer eye corners and collarbone. The costume details are exceptionally rich: the glossy black material on the chest is spliced with white leather, while the golden gemstone pendant and red tassels in the center were all handcrafted and sewn. The studio set was staged with an incredible sense of atmosphere. The background was draped with white scrolls filled with calligraphy, complemented on-site by red maple branches and white plum blossoms, alongside wooden chessboards and folding fans used as props. Under warm yellow lighting, the crimson outer robe and translucent white sheer sleeves created a wonderful layered depth. While shooting this main set, because the costume's tailoring was relatively slim-fitting, movement ranges were somewhat restricted—especially when sitting on the tatami platform to strike various poses, which demanded relatively high core engagement. I experimented with poses such as gently resting a hand on the head, covering the eyes, and holding a folding fan, hoping to convey the character's languid yet faintly mysterious aura through gaze and body language. During the shoot, to capture optimal light and shadow effects, the photographer made extensive use of rim/side-back lighting to highlight the textures of the wig and garments. The red, white, and black color blocking pops exceptionally well on camera, particularly with the crimson outer robe creating a striking visual impact against the dark-toned backdrop. I especially love the compositions captured while sitting on the bench, where the red high heels and pure white lower attire formed a sharp contrast. Although standing in high heels for a long time during the shoot left my feet a bit sore, the moment I saw the raw captures, I knew every bit of effort was worth it. Whenever producing such an ornate, lavishly styled character, from trial makeup to the final studio session, thorough communication with the team regarding set staging and lighting positions is essential. This time's set arrangement was crafted with immense care; the staggered arrangement of the calligraphy scrolls coupled with the embellishments of maple leaves made the overall frame feel fuller. I also explored diverse emotional expressions before the lens, ranging from icy detachment to a hint of aggressive edge, hoping to present the character's multi-faceted charm. Thanks to every backstage crew member for their dedication, allowing us to complete this work brimming with fantastical colors together.
