The focus of this Convention photo session was to unite garment texture with character presence. Yor's design inherently carries a blend of sharpness and elegance, so when choosing the wardrobe, I paid particular attention to how the black long dress reflected light. Under the dense overhead lights of the convention hall, the dress produced a sheen reminiscent of a leather-satin hybrid, which, paired with the halter-strap neckline and cold-shoulder cut, created rich visual dimension. I also prepped the wig styling extensively beforehand: blunt bangs paired with face-framing long sidelocks sculpted the facial contour, while the golden flower hair ornaments on both sides elevated the overall finish. In the cluttered ambient light of the convention, the golden reflections made the subject stand out sharply.
Regarding props, the golden stiletto needle held in hand has a relatively straightforward structure, but gripping it naturally required careful alignment with my arm lines. For the first shot seated on a stool, we experimented with crossing the legs, which organically highlighted the high slit of the gown while drawing visual focus toward the legs and the prop. The geometric cutout pattern on the black over-the-knee Stockings served as a neat detail; unlike solid socks, this mesh-like hollow design adds visual rhythm, giving the leg lines a more sculpted, three-dimensional look. The high heels were crafted from glossy patent leather with a substantial platform; while standing in them for prolonged periods was tiring, that extra height was essential for overall proportions.
The second pose—reclining sideways on the floor—was quite a test of core strength on the convention floor. The venue floor was hard and reflective, requiring me to support my upper body with one arm while maintaining elongated leg extension. This low-angle shot placed high demands on the photographer's framing to exclude passing attendees and cluttered booths. Although the ambient light was relatively dim, the matrix ceiling lights created beautiful background bokeh. The photographer used a flash to carve out the subject's outline while pulling down background exposure, lending the shot the atmospheric feel of a stage close-up.
For the makeup, I focused on deepening the eye contours and paired them with red contact lenses to sharpen my gaze. The lipstick was a matte reddish-brown, creating subtle contrast against the cooler overall palette. When shooting a Convention photo at an event, the biggest challenge is always the heavy foot traffic and chaotic lighting, making clean backdrops hard to find. Therefore, in composition, we relied heavily on shallow depth of field to blur out distant booths and crowds, keeping the focus tight.
The entire shoot was tightly packed: transitioning between spots, refining poses, and smoothing the skirt and headpieces all meant continuous dedication to fine details. In the finished shots, this All-black outfit under the cool-toned convention lighting achieved a truly compelling texture. Bringing all these elements together to capture images that met our expectations was the perfect way to wrap up this convention journey.
