[Flandre Scarlet Cosplay] Touhou Project Quirky-Cute Daily Selfie

This set of Selfie photos was taken straight from the iPhone's native camera, aiming to preserve real skin texture and outfit details as much as possible. For the wig, I picked a bright light golden color with bangs trimmed just to cover the eyebrows, and the side locks were blunt-cut short for a neat feel. For eyeshadow, I didn't use overly heavy colors, mostly using earth tones as a base, then extending the natural curve of the lashes along the eyeliner, with cluster fake lashes placed at the outer corners to give my eyes more spirit. For eye color, I chose red-brown contact lenses; rather than pure red, adding a slight touch of amber looks clearer and complements the creamy white base makeup perfectly.

The focus of the makeup was actually on the lip color and blush. To match the overall atmosphere, I picked a translucent peach-red blush, lightly applying it just above the apple of my cheeks to create a slightly tipsy or natural flush. For lip makeup, I thinly applied matte lip stain and smudged the edges with a cotton swab to create a soft, velvety feel.

The costume has a strong sense of layering. The lace bonnet on my head is double-layered; the outer layer uses a semi-transparent satin fabric, while the inner layer is a firmer white pleated lace. The fine red stitching along the hat rim visually brightens the look. The shirt collar features high-density embossed lace that took considerable labor to make, but the result is a remarkably 3D floral pattern. Red bows fixed along the center line of the collar and at the cuffs serve as great color highlights. The red dress skirt actually pieces together different red fabrics rather than using a single solid color block, allowing it to reflect varied shades of red under camera flashes and convention venue overhead lights.

The props brought this time also carry a strong sense of story. The red apple was specifically picked at a fruit market for its shiny, deep red skin; holding its slight weight in hand actually worked great for posing. The teddy bear I held in Photo 2 is a personal favorite doll of mine with plush, solid fur that always helps me relax when taking photos. The giant black key prop was borrowed from a friend on site; its frosted surface gave it a heavy, ceremonial weight in hand.

Actually, in a noisy environment like an anime convention, I'm used to taking Selfie logs in this quiet manner. Just like the description of a quiet, introverted girl, when the lighting and look fit well, I prefer not forcing an overly energetic performance in front of the lens, but rather capturing a slightly dorky, naturally relaxed state. I feel the charm of this quirky-cute style is that it doesn't require pushing too hard—the texture emerges naturally.

For shooting, I picked a spot in the lobby near the glass doors where natural light filtered through, creating a rim light along my hair strands. Although the red skirt and white lace present many visual focus points, switching between macro and half-body shots allowed the tailored details of the outfit to show nicely. Every time I finish a photoshoot like this, wrapping up gives a real sense of accomplishment, as keeping such complex clothing and hair neat and tidy takes considerable effort. If I have the opportunity in a studio setting with better lighting in the future, I should be able to capture these intricate costume layers with even more 3D depth for my Convention photos.
