This ocean-themed Swimsuit cosplay shoot was finally successfully completed. The overall styling combined summer's cool vibe with defined marine elements, striving to restore an immersive underwater world from the wig to attire and studio sets.
First, let's talk about the wig and makeup this time. The hair color chosen was a highly saturated light yellow-green, with a blue-purple gradient at the tips to echo the overall cool-toned environment. The light blue semi-transparent fin-like ornament on top of the head offered a translucent effect under the light, adding aquatic agility to the overall look. For makeup, blue-green eye shadow was selected to reinforce the marine theme, while a vibrant red lipstick brightened the overall complexion, making facial features a clear visual focus against the deep cool blue background.
There are many details on the costume. The upper body features a white halterneck cutout design, combined with blue-purple gems, intricate gold edging, and diamond lattice patterns; maintaining the character's complex structure while offering the cooling feel unique to swimsuits. The lower body is a blue-and-white spliced draping skirt with rich layering. The high-slit cut gives the skirt's lines a better sense of extension, paired with metallic armbands and leg accessories for a strong overall silhouette.
Setting up studio scenery took a lot of thought. The site featured handcrafted large jellyfish props with blue-and-white tassels hanging underneath, creating a deep-sea ethereal feel. Flanked by white Roman pillars, blue curled reflective ribbons on the floor, and floating blue bubble special effects, a blue water world was constructed together, fitting the theme of "Daughter of the Azure Sea" and summer swimsuit perfectly.
Regarding composition and pose design, several different perspectives were attempted. Some wide shots fully utilized jellyfish props and the skirt hem, conveying a relaxed feeling of merging into the aquatic scenery. For half-body close-ups, hand gestures and gazes expressed the confidence and composure in the character's personality. In particular, one candid shot extending a hand toward the lens utilized shallow depth of field to blur background jellyfish pillars and bubbles, creating great spatial perspective.
Photographer @北方抹茶芝麻糊 was very meticulous with lighting and light control. To ensure skin tones appeared translucent in the blue environment, light angles and softbox placements were tested thoroughly. The overall color scheme leaned toward cool blue while preserving warm highlights on facial features and costume accessories, allowing the subject to pop out wonderfully within the blue atmosphere.
Shooting also accumulated some practical experience. Because the set contained numerous hanging tassels and jellyfish props, moving around on site easily led to entanglements, requiring pre-planned positions before posing to ensure clear, uncluttered relationships between the skirt hem and props. However, the final output turned out very refreshing, with light-dark layering and color blending matching expected results.
Using my birthday as the occasion for this shoot added a relaxed mood to the process. In a theme like this, presenting a leisurely summer feel successfully conveys the unique charm of this character in summer.
