[Essex cosplay] Azur Lane Eagle Union Aircraft Carrier, Garage Racer Style

Eagle Union Essex-class aircraft carrier — Essex, reporting to the Commander! The theme for this shoot was very special, almost like a crossover attempt stepping away from the smoke of naval battles. Dressed in this blue-and-white patent leather racing leather jacket, I stood in an industrial-style motorcycle garage, trying to embody the aircraft carrier character from the game into the world of a racer.

The choice of materials for the costume was the biggest highlight. To match the racing theme, the jacket used high-gloss patent leather fabric with a tight cut that emphasized body lines. The blue collar around the neck featured white trim, faithfully capturing the design feel of the original game art in its details. The sleeves were made of semi-transparent puffed mesh fabric with added support, giving them a three-dimensional silhouette with every move, while black-and-white motorcycle gloves perfectly blended hard-edged cool with soft elegance. The light blue twin-tail wig was specially styled into high pigtails, paired with the iconic yellow forehead hair accessory, making the overall look stand out strikingly against the motorcycle backdrop.

The shooting location was set at a motorcycle club, packed with tools, equipment, and a heavy black motorcycle. At first, I worried that such a dark-toned setting might feel dull, but the photographer was very experienced. By utilizing blue neon strip lights on the background wall and pink glowing conduits along the edges of the floor, they created a lighting effect with a rich cyberpunk vibe. The smooth fuel tank and textured seat of the black motorcycle also served as perfect shooting props.

In terms of posing, we tried multiple angles. The kneeling pose and sitting on the motorcycle had the most visual tension. For the shots sitting on the motorcycle, we specially highlighted the black over-the-knee socks and pointed patent leather high heels, which looked exceptionally eye-catching in the dim ambient light. In front of the camera, I tried my best to convey the character's calm and dashing demeanor, which, combined with the cool aura of the motorcycle, gave the pictures a very full emotion. However, there were a few minor hiccups during shooting: although the patent leather material looks great, I had to be extremely careful when putting it on, taking it off, and posing, constantly worried about scratching or creasing it.

A special thanks goes to the photographer for their professional guidance during this shoot. The fill-lighting adjustments and composition switches on set were smooth, and the post-production color grading accurately restored the cool, glamorous texture we aimed for. The motorcycle posing with me looked cold and tough, but actually complemented me wonderfully, allowing me to experience another possibility of the character breaking through the fourth wall. Whether it's competing on the racetrack or fighting at sea, the character's charm always radiates new vitality under different themes. Although traveling to sets, doing hair and makeup, and finding the right angles was tiring, seeing the final photos with that unique vitality blending character with real-world settings made all the hard work worthwhile.
