When recreating the "So Long, Adele" Summer swimsuit look of Eyjafjalla Cosplay from Arknights, I chose the seaside as the shooting location. The pink-and-white checkered swimsuit paired with sheer, translucent tulle features an exceptionally soft texture, which, combined with the sheep horn headpiece and withered branch staff, stays as faithful as possible to the original character design. The first step of shooting was actually organizing garment details: the positioning of the ruffles and the drape of the tulle couldn't look messy. Because coastal winds are strong, securing the hairstyle and outfit posed high demands for this Seaside location shoot.
The sunlight was overly harsh in the morning, creating heavy contrast across the raw shots, so I shifted the main focus to the golden hour around dusk. When shooting the crashing waves against seaside coastal reefs, I had to semi-squat along the rock edge; surging waves splashed up and dampened the skirt hem and legs, but it was precisely this spontaneous water spray that brought vivid, natural dynamic motion to the Cosplay photography. In the subsequent beach section, I struck various standing poses with the staff, letting the tulle skirt flutter in the ocean breeze to capture an airy, weightless aesthetic.
The shots with the swing were actually a spontaneous idea. The seaside light before sunset was wonderfully soft, and the metal chains of the swing formed elegant lines against the blue backdrop. Sitting on it, naturally swaying my arms and tilting my body slightly, the lens's depth of field cleanly separated the foreground portrait from the ocean background, yielding a much more luminous result than anticipated. The blue hour just before nightfall was my favorite segment of the entire shoot: as dusk fell rapidly and sea breezes intertwined with the roar of the tide, a single small fill light was all it took to accentuate skin translucency and the soft pastel tones of the garments within the dark blue ambient setting.
While stepping barefoot onto the sand at the beach is comfortable, small pebbles easily stick to the soles when changing positions, requiring constant adjustments between camera angles while maintaining character emotion—a process that was physically demanding. Yet once the right light and angles were locked in, the refreshing coolness flowed effortlessly across the frame. This styling itself is relatively lightweight without heavy armor or elaborate makeup, placing greater emphasis on body language and environmental immersion. Looking back at this shoot, coordinating with nature is far more complex than ordinary location shoots, but thorough prep work delivers a visual atmosphere with immense emotional resonance. This Summer swimsuit photoshoot represents an explorative portrayal of Eyjafjalla across different seasons and occasions, and I hope to convey that bright, comforting breeze to everyone viewing this Cosplay photography set.
