[Elysia Cosplay] Maid Outfit Styling Share for Honkai Impact 3rd

This set of photos captures Elysia's Maid outfit styling from Honkai Impact 3rd. This costume was custom-made, and during preparation, I deliberately adjusted the wig based on the original character design. The bangs of the pink wig were trimmed to create layered texture, while the hair ends were shaped with curl and airiness to avoid looking stiff. The blue contact lenses have a relatively large diameter to recreate the character's eye features, though wearing them required attention to comfort, and I used eye drops several times mid-shoot. The black-and-white horn accessories and white lace on the head were secured to the wig with hair clips, with angles slightly adjusted to avoid looking like antlers. To prevent the wig from collapsing, I placed hair pads inside to visually elevate the crown, better aligning with 2D character aesthetics.

The Maid outfit is rich in details. The neckline features distinct black-and-white ruffled styling. The dark blue corset cincher with a row of golden buttons enhances the garment's refinement. The large white floral ornament on the chest is eye-catching, featuring metallic material at the flower's center flanked by purple ribbons. To keep the flower from shifting during the shoot, I pinned it to the inner lining. The white long puff sleeves not only provided warmth but also enhanced the character's sweet ambiance. The skirt features a two-tiered layer of dark blue and white with clear depth, swaying beautifully while walking. The long White stockings paired with black Mary Jane shoes improve overall proportions. The choker is crafted from distressed black leather, looking very textured under the lights.

Regarding photography, a technical insight was controlling lens focal length. Mirrors easily cause reflections, so the hardest part of a mirror selfie is balancing the mirror reflection lighting with the subject's silhouette. For the first full-body shot, I deliberately lowered my phone and extended one leg slightly forward; this avoided distortion while better showcasing the lines of the legs and White stockings, fully utilizing the spatial depth in the mirror. The overall focus was on creating the visual impression of long legs and a slender waist, while minding the standing posture—twisting slightly at the waist to give the skirt a dynamic spreading effect.

The half-body shot was taken close-up against the mirror, slightly bending my arm to cup my cheek. This not only directed visual focus to the chest ornaments and neck choker, but also softened facial contours. The combination of black horns and white flowers also looked more layered in this shot. In terms of makeup, the base aimed for clean porcelain fairness; eyeliner was extended and paired with mascara for distinct, individual lashes, which, together with the contact lenses, created a vacant yet focused gaze. A wash of pale pink eyeshadow across the eye sockets enhanced a healthy glow. For the lips, a glossy lip tint was chosen to make them appear plumper.

During this shooting process, many unexpected hurdles arose. For instance, because space at home is limited, mirror reflections were tricky to manage, and in such a tight area, fitting the full body into frame meant backing up as far as possible just to find enough distance. In addition, the voluminous skirt easily brushed against nearby table corners or clothes racks, requiring constant mindfulness of posture, pulling the skirt hem into place, or adjusting the chest ornament to prevent wardrobe mishaps. The outfit has clear pros and cons: the pros are rich details and high fidelity, while the con is the puffiness of the skirt, requiring ample space in a cramped room for mirror selfies to avoid looking crowded. Sharing these shooting insights today is also meant to help improve future remake shoots. This session focused heavily on perfecting makeup and styling details, such as false eyelash application and eyeliner drawing. How tightly the corset cincher is fastened also affects overall posture—it needs to be cinched snugly while ensuring smooth breathing, which is standard for cosplay. In terms of lighting, paired with warm indoor overhead lights, the skin tone appeared much softer. Overall, this cosplay experience was satisfying and full of fun.
