[Ch'en cosplay] Arknights Roleplay: Leather Jacket and Dual Blades Channeling Combat Stances

Bringing this Arknights Ch'en cosplay photo set to life took considerable preparation and shoot time, and today I've finally curated the deliverables to share with everyone.

Let's start with the wardrobe and styling details. To recreate her crisp, tactical efficiency, I prepared a crisp white collared shirt, her signature yellow necktie, a heavyweight black Leather jacket cosplay, and leather shorts infused with techwear accents. The emblem pattern on that tie was something I traced and painted stroke by stroke referencing official character sheets. The dark navy wig with blunt fringe underwent rigorous cutting and setting to maintain natural, airy volume without fraying or frizzing. The dark-toned horn props overhead feature finely sculpted textures, anchored tightly with hairbands and invisible netting to prevent shifting during deep crouches or dynamic weapon swings.

The two weapon props prepared for this shoot were particularly demanding. One is the red-and-black heavy mechanical blade, and the other is the slotted silver longsword with measurement markings—both carrying considerable practical weight. Striking slashing poses, resting them across my shoulder, or holding them in crossed combat guards demanded continuous core and arm tension. Especially for the low-crouch cross-blade stance, locking my center of gravity while conveying the oppressive presence of the twin blades kept my leg muscles perpetually flexed, while the black thigh armor plates and harness straps pulled taut. After adjusting each pose, I paused for several beats to verify that the metallic reflections off the blades caught the lighting at their most striking angle.

Our shooting location was set in a sprawling, industrial-style exhibition hall. The rows of circular ceiling lights paired with cool natural light filtering through the high windows created a chilling, somber battlefield atmosphere. To accentuate the glossy sheen of the leather jacket and the intricate metallic relief on the swords, the photographer set up a high-contrast cool-toned lighting scheme. This setup not only made skin tones appear fair and crystalline, but also sculpted crisp, dimensional silhouettes. Low-angle perspectives combined with dynamic Dutch tilts vastly heightened visual momentum; throughout the session, I maintained an erect spine and a hardened, downcast stare to project an incisive, razor-sharp edge into the lens.

In terms of character immersion, I strove to embody calm, unflinching determination. Ch'en's core disposition is built on unyielding fortitude, meaning that beyond putting on the wardrobe, intense gaze control and body language form the actual soul of the performance. Before each shutter click, I dropped my stance low, focused my stare directly down the barrel of the lens, flexed my arm muscles, and deepened my breathing. Whether shouldering a blade with one arm or wielding both in two-handed grips, every movement had to remain clean and decisive, stripping away fidgety micro-movements to reflect her disciplined combat pedigree.

The entire shoot was physically taxing—repeatedly adjusting stances under studio lamps in a leather uniform thoroughly tested physical endurance. Yet seeing these final deliverables, rich in layered depth and kinetic tension under the Anime-style photography and 2D Vision Project ethos, makes every single moment worthwhile.
