[Amiya cosplay] Documenting Handmade Bowtie, Leg garter, and a Faceless Doctor

Taking these Amiya cosplay photos was mainly to document the Handmade accessories I crafted myself. Putting on my self-made neckpiece, Bowtie, and Leg garter, we found well-lit spots in indoor and outdoor venues for the shoot. The core of this craft was the Bowtie and neckpiece; I adjusted the pattern across several iterations, using bronze pleated fabric as the neckpiece's base, and took great care in shaping the blue ribbons on the chest. The blue rings and wrist cords were also specially coordinated to match the overall color palette. It is a bit of a shame that the Leg garter was not captured due to shooting angles, but I will make sure to get separate shots of it next time.

A fun part of this shoot was going on location with the Doctor. The Doctor wore a black hooded coat, deliberately bundled up with their back to the camera to keep their face hidden, which felt very true to the character's setting. Throwing peace signs together, our coordination was very natural. Amiya's animal ears were custom-made, and the hairstyle was trimmed to match. The fabric texture looked great under natural light, especially the bright color-blocked panels on the coat. The zippers and metal pull tabs had a satisfying heft, feeling slightly heavy to wear but providing deep character immersion. During the shoot, we tried various angles and compositions; for example, phone selfies worked well to capture hand close-ups and overall textures.

Because I love the design details of this outfit so much, I spent considerable time recreating the props. Both the Bowtie and neckpiece were crafted to closely mirror the lines and colors of the original artwork—the Bowtie used a dual-layered structure, and the metallic texture of the neckpiece was achieved through repeated layers of hand-painting and weathering. Although shooting conditions were somewhat limited with passersby and clutter, the overall ambiance of the final photos turned out quite well.

I debated for a long time whether to post more photos, but we actually did not take that many that day as most of the time was spent helping each other adjust camera settings. The Doctor's black coat served as a great contrasting backdrop that made the main subject stand out. Since this cosplay was done during spare time, the completion level of the outfit and accessories reached a state I was quite satisfied with, especially the blue rings on both hands, which enriched the details of the fingers.

Overall, it was a very fulfilling shoot record. Spending days tweaking clothing details and adjusting the tightness of the Bowtie also gave me the chance to catch up with a friend I had not seen in a while. While it is a pity the Leg garter did not make it into the frame, outdoor shooting is inherently full of surprises. For now, this serves as a record through selfies and group shots; next time I will prepare even more thoroughly, find a cleaner and simpler setting, and see if I can perfectly capture all the missed details.
