Today, I shot a set of convention photos outside the Firefly ACG Expo as NIKKE Idol Anis in this Idol-style outfit from Goddess of Victory: New Hope. The actual visual effect of this outfit when worn turned out even better than expected. The collared shirt features a cropped, midriff-baring cut; to keep its shape pristine, I used clear shoulder straps and anti-slip tape underneath. The hand-painted patterns on the white shirt were actually brushed on little by little with acrylic paint, which, paired with the cat-paw badge on the chest and two plush mini mascots, packed in an enormous amount of detail. The bottom piece is a yellow pleated skirt dotted with stars, matched with a brown checkered tie; the overall palette is remarkably bright, producing fantastic reflective highlights in front of the convention hall's glass curtain wall.
Styling the wig took plenty of care. The curve of the bangs was repeatedly tuned with a flat iron, and to capture the character's lively personality, the hair ends were flicked slightly outward. That streak of green highlight at the crown was temporarily styled with colored hair wax, easily washed out right after the shoot. In terms of makeup, blush beneath the eyes was applied heavily and accented with star-shaped glitter; to complement the character's dazzling smile, I specifically created custom tooth molds. The star hair accessories were handcrafted from shrink plastic and sequins, and their rhinestones refracted beautifully in the sun, delivering gorgeous texture during close-up portraits.
Convention photography truly tests the synergy between the photographer and coser. This time, I deliberately chose a backdrop with vast glass facades and metallic pillars; natural light streamed in from the side, allowing the bright yellow outfit to reflect a delightfully soft glow. In terms of posing, I explored dynamic jumping and crouching stances, such as toe-tapping on one leg or sitting cross-legged, primarily to highlight the dynamic movement of the skirt and leg contours paired with White stockings. In one crouching-and-reaching pose, wearing platform shoes and a mini skirt required me to tighten my core to maintain stability; we shot it several times before capturing that most satisfying expression.
The outdoor temperature was quite high that day, and shooting non-stop for hours in a long-sleeved costume and wig was physically demanding. This styling includes numerous accessories, and the tie kept shifting out of place, requiring realignment between takes. Seeing the final results, however, made every bit of effort worthwhile. The color coordination of this costume is wonderfully flattering to the skin, with the yellow and white combo radiating youthful vitality under natural daylight. As an archive of convention photos, these images preserve the authentic atmosphere of that day, and I hope the lens conveys Anis's vibrant, bubbly energy to everyone viewing them. Playing off the venue's metallic reflections, I also experimented with using an on-camera flash to darken the background, yielding crisp and translucent subject clarity. Overall, this outdoor candid shoot met my expectations across composition and lighting, and I'm deeply satisfied with the completion of this Anis cosplay look.
