[Cheshire Cosplay] Celebrating a Festive New Year with Azur Lane's Cheshire

Donning this red-and-white outfit for Cheshire's New Year cosplay and stepping into the photographer's meticulously designed traditional Chinese studio, I hoped to authentically convey this vibrant holiday atmosphere through the lens. As a beloved character in Azur Lane, Cheshire is known for her energetic charm and approachable warmth. This New Year theme skin retains her iconic character nuances while weaving in rich traditional festive elements, filling the shooting process with a sense of ceremony.

The wig for this shoot was carefully styled in ash-white with subtle blue highlights, with curved bangs framing the face softly alongside white ruffled cat-ear headpieces for a playful finish. Oversized red velvet flowers adorned both sides of the hair accessory, with cascading tassels establishing a lively, festive tone. The main dress features rich vermilion tones crafted from satin-like brocade fabric; black mesh chest panels and gold floral frog-button embroideries add elegant depth and craftsmanship. The standout feature is the white fur shawl—its soft, plush volume softens winter's chill while adding luxurious fullness to the silhouette. Pairing the lower half with White stockings accented by delicate lace trims harmonized with the red-and-white palette, playing a key role in highlighting her character charm.

Set design received extraordinary attention to detail, with the photographer infusing rich New Year elements throughout the backdrop. Wooden armchair antiques and lattice-carved folding screens established a vintage traditional space. A plush white faux-fur rug covered the floor, dusted with gold sequins and gold-flecked paper confetti for visual richness. Prop choices were equally thoughtful: beside festive "Fu" character plaques and Spring Festival ornaments, we featured traditional candied hawthorns, gold ingots, red packets, and hanging red lanterns in the corners. Unfurling a "May Wealth Pour In" scroll alongside red envelopes before the lens brought an authentic wave of warmth and holiday blessings.

Under the camera lens, I sought to embody Cheshire's innocent, lively, and mischievously playful disposition. To capture her animated energy, I varied my sitting postures—sometimes casually crossing my legs, other times subtly lifting one leg to stretch the silhouette—showcasing the allure of White stockings combined with the tailored modified qipao from diverse angles. Managing the wardrobe presented unique technical challenges: the plush fur shawl carried significant volume, requiring constant awareness so as not to obscure intricate dress details; meanwhile, White stockings were prone to snags during repositions, demanding careful precision during dynamic movements to maintain flawless visual continuity.

Warm yellow key lighting combined with the crimson backdrop enveloped the entire photoshoot in cozy, enthusiastic tones. Looking at the frames through the viewfinder felt as though stepping directly into a bustling Chinese New Year's Eve, surrounded by firecrackers and family laughter. This set is more than a physical incarnation of an anime character—it represents the collaborative passion of photographer and cosplayer alike. From styling and set building to every click of the shutter, each detail reflects reverence for the character and holiday. Every captured frame carries warm wishes, recording not only another facet of Cheshire, but the wintertime sentiment of reunion and warmth.
