I finally brought the convention photos for the Snezhnaya Tsaritsa to life at CICF! From the very first moment she appeared in the Snezhnaya teaser PV, I felt devotion even deeper than the Fatui. Taking advantage of this convention, I finally fulfilled this dream—and this was also my very first time shooting this character. From conceptual preparation to stepping into the finished outfit, it required immense thought. To capture that regal majesty and imposing pressure of the extreme north, I applied a clear, frosty base makeup, focusing intensely on the eye styling and azure-blue circle lenses; paired with custom pointed ears, her ethereal yet commanding aura came through immediately. The wig was styled with intricate braiding and soft waves, crowned by the ice-and-snow tiara. The moment I placed it on, my entire presence transformed, and I found myself instinctively slowing my stride through the hall.
The craftsmanship of this costume deserves special mention. The off-the-shoulder bodice is adorned with crystalline ice ornaments and an edge of plush white fur that boasts fantastic texture. The fur collar is wonderfully voluminous, though honestly, wearing thick fur inside a bustling convention hall demands real endurance; by wrap time my undershirt was soaked with sweat, but enduring the heat was worth it for the visual payoff. I particularly adore the skirt design: a high-slit mini in the front flowing into an expansive, semi-sheer royal blue tulle train in the back. The train is exceptionally grand; whether walking or seated upon a high stool, having the fabric spill across the floor created an utterly breathtaking, opulent spread, catching studio flashes with a subtle frost-like luster. To harmonize with the high-low hemline and all-encompassing glacial motif, I chose pure White stockings paired with white platform heels, visually elongating leg proportions to match the character's statuesque silhouette while infusing an untouchable, commanding distance.
During shooting, there was one major regret: the giant mistletoe prop mentioned in the post was simply too massive and heavy to transport all the way to Guangzhou, so I had to compensate entirely with body language. In pose choreography, I leaned into expansive, commanding gestures—such as crossing my legs atop a black folding stool or raising one palm gracefully forward, as if weaving Cryo sorcery or extending an invitation to a grand waltz. In expression management, though I naturally love smiling, embodying this sovereign empress meant maintaining an icy, subtly aloof gaze; locking eyes straight down the lens radiated the authority of a supreme ruler, echoing that quiet vow of 'burn away the old world for me.' The convention floor was packed with chaotic background crowds, but the photographer skillfully isolated dark backdrops or leveraged ambient low light with strobe flashes to suppress background clutter, while a wide aperture melted passersby into soft bokeh, allowing the high-contrast lighting to accentuate the crisp chill of the blue-and-white palette.
For the frames seated on the stepladder, I refined my seating position multiple times to display the fluid drape of the train and sculpt leg contours; planting the high heels firmly engaged calf muscles, maximizing the sleek tension of the White stockings and elongated lines. All fatigue vanished the moment I saw the finished photos. There are certainly details I want to perfect next time—especially bringing along the massive mistletoe prop—and I look forward to capturing her against an authentic snow-covered outdoor landscape.
