Convention photos from the TCD Guochao Anime Carnival on July 28, 2024, captured by photographer Si Liu. This time, I cosplayed Rem from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, specifically the Long-haired Rem version. I made thorough preparations beforehand; just managing the wig took a long time, as the hair for Long-haired Rem is very long and easily tangles. It took a lot of effort to achieve this layered, smooth, and silky finish. To secure the headwear properly, I spent considerable time adjusting the floral wreath and hairpins to ensure they wouldn't shift in front of the lens.

For the outfit, I chose the classic black-and-white maid dress with a large skirt supported by a petticoat underneath for optimal puffiness. To achieve great visual results, the lace and bows on the dress were straightened multiple times, and the black ribbon at the neckline was tied snugly to make the upper body look more upright and poised. The shooting venue was an indoor exhibition hall with cool-gray flooring and a subtle deep-blue backdrop. The photographer was very meticulous with lighting, using a softbox on a light stand to cast soft illumination that accentuated my fair skin texture while maintaining the depth of the dark background.

We took nine photos in total, among which the third pose sitting on the floor left the deepest impression on me. Wearing White stockings paired with black patent leather chunky heels, stretching out my legs, placing my hands near my knees, and applying slight tension to tighten the calf lines made the legs look naturally poised and slender without forced posing. The standing shots and the skirt-lifting shots also turned out beautiful; the moment the skirt flared open had great visual tension, with the petticoat shaping the dress into an elegant arc. Additionally, the half-body close-ups tested the expression in my eyes and face; by adjusting the angle facing the camera, we found the perfect catchlight in the eyes.

The atmosphere at the convention was wonderful. Although it was crowded, the photographer handled depth of field skillfully, blurring out passersby in the background and highlighting the character as the main focus. The makeup that day was also very detailed, harmonizing with the blue contacts, long hair, the white floral wreath, and the pink cross hair clips on my head, perfectly fitting the character design. The shoot was a bit tiring since I had to constantly maintain skirt-lifting or stretched poses, and the large skirt added considerable weight, but seeing the final photos made it completely worthwhile. It was a very pleasant photoshoot experience. Thanks to photographer Si Liu for the documentation and guidance, allowing me to see a different side of Long-haired Rem and serving as a perfect commemoration of this convention. After wrapping up the shoot, many friends who also love this character gathered around for group photos and exchanged tips on wig styling and outfit coordination. This passionate 2D community atmosphere was fantastic and became a precious memory beyond this set of photos.
