This set of Genshin Impact Furina convention photos was recently completed and is now openly presented as a visual record. The photos directly showcase the makeup and details of this costume, shot in the public area of a local anime convention. The ambient lighting at the scene was quite cluttered, but the photographer skillfully separated the character from the background through a combination of on-camera and off-camera flash, preserving that unique slice-of-life and authentic feel of convention photos without the overly polished packaging of a studio.
In the process of preparing for the character Furina, the wig was a part that required immense patience to handle. The iconic crescent-shaped ahoge on top of the head needed careful styling with holding products to maintain its curvature, while the straight blue-and-white long hair had to be combed layer by layer, otherwise it could easily knot. The wig strands selected this time were very fine and soft, giving off an excellent flowing sense with a slight walk or a head shake, which also aligned with the visual undertone of the character's water element.
Regarding the costume, the white inner shirt and the royal blue jacket form a powerful color contrast, and the texture of this fabric looks highly energetic under the reflection of a direct flash. The outfit has many accessories, such as the sapphire at the neckline and the silver wave-pattern decorations on the cuffs and hemline. The black matte leather gloves on the hands anchor the frame beautifully when holding the prop gun, preventing the white clothes from appearing excessively bright. The black leather straps on the thighs, paired with the blue teardrop gemstone below, serve as the visual centerpiece of the lower half of the styling, effectively adding layers to avoid monotony.
For the makeup, I intentionally chose a cool-toned color scheme to echo the character setting. The blue colored contact lenses are very eye-catching, and the rhinestone embellishments under the eyes were my personal touch, adding a sparkling, lively effect under the convention venue lights. The cool-toned rose-taupe lipstick improves the complexion without stealing the visual focus from the eye makeup and the overall blue palette.
The shooting process lasted about an hour, and photographer Pulao 411 was excellent at snapping split-second moments. For example, the dynamic and elegant turnaround allows the hair to lift naturally, appearing highly tense. The standing posture holding the prop gun, combined with the drape of the hemline, creates a confident and effortless atmosphere. Meanwhile, the half-body close-up snapshot leans more toward showcasing the gaze, with a slight tilt of the head paired with clasped hands, bringing out an elegant, scrutinizing look.
Actually, doing Anime cosplay is much more than just throwing on clothes; it's more important to pinpoint that demeanor where tsundere and elegance coexist. Therefore, in the pose design, I did my best to keep my body posture upright and restrained to avoid over-forcing it. The anime convention venue had heavy foot traffic, so when looking for shooting spots, we deliberately searched for locations with reflective floor tiles, which could mirror the contours of the shoes and skirt hem, adding to the extended space of the frame.
Many people often mention the three elements of portrait photography, and from actual experience, even in a place with complex lighting like an anime convention, as long as the styling is meticulous, the model's emotions are on point, and the photographer grasps the angles and light well, a satisfying cosplay portrait can still be achieved. This set of convention photos records a busy and fulfilling day, and also serves as a small account of my passion for cosplay, hoping to convey my sincere love for this character through these frames.
