[Castorice Cosplay] Stealing a Touch of Fantasy in Purple Light and Shadow

After sorting through everything, this teaser set of Castorice is finally ready to share with everyone! For this shoot, the vibe we aimed to convey wasn't about overpowering visual impact, but rather leaning toward a serene, elegant, and dreamlike atmosphere with a subtle sense of detachment.

Regarding the outfit prep, a lot of thought went into selecting the details. The main piece is a cinched minidress combining deep blue and white; the deep blue section uses a fabric with a subtle sheen that nicely reflects the studio lights to showcase the garment's layered depth. Beneath the skirt hem, multi-layered white lace ruffles are spliced in, offering a lovely drape and flow whether sitting down or moving about. The shoulder design is quite intriguing, utilizing translucent white tulle folded into bow shapes that cover the bare shoulder space without feeling heavy. Additionally, the detached deep blue sleeves are another highlight—lightly cinched at the cuffs, they not only flatter the arm lines but also echo the deep blue bows on the shoes in the same color tone. Standing in those pointed high heels got a bit tiring after a while, but it was totally worth the effort to visually elongate the lower body and make the overall silhouette appear more slender and graceful.

For the set design, we specially rented a dedicated studio to build the scene. We used large swathes of light purple tulle draped from the ceiling down to the floor; this translucent fabric has fantastic light permeability, which, together with the top array of softboxes, bathed the entire space in a mesmerizing purple haze within the Purple color scheme. To enrich the scene's visual elements, we placed white faux antique Roman pillars on both sides, decorated with multiple blue butterfly props on and around the pillars to create visual cohesion with the Butterfly elements and hair accessories on my head. A few golden candle holders were also used on set to introduce warm light sources—the contrast between cool and warm lighting balanced out the chilliness of the purple tones, keeping the overall frame from looking overly pale in this Atmospheric photography shoot.

For the makeup, rather than bold, heavy colors, we aimed for a clean, translucent finish that accentuated facial bone structure. The eye makeup focused on sculpted eyeliner and false lashes, with a subtly winged outer corner giving the gaze a firmer look. The wig is a muted, grayish light purple, accented on top and sides with silver and white hair clips for clear, layered depth. To match the overall light-toned palette, I chose lighter-colored contact lenses, making the eyes appear more crystal-clear under intense studio lights and naturally blending into the purple ambiance.

In selecting shooting poses, we ultimately settled on this side-sitting posture. Leaning slightly backward, my right arm rested naturally on the Roman pillar with fingertips gently brushing its edge—a pose that effortlessly conveys a languid yet confident state. My left leg stretched forward naturally, utilizing the skirt's drape and the stockings' visual guidance to make the leg lines appear more elongated. Throughout the shoot, to capture the most natural expressions, I continuously fine-tuned the tilt of my head and where my gaze landed, ensuring my eyes stayed focused and story-rich across every snapshot angle.

Although the entire studio shoot was demanding—spending hours just arranging those massive pieces of purple tulle—seeing the textured interplay of light and shadow in the final shots made every adjustment and wait worthwhile. Compared to simply showing off an outfit, this approach emphasizing atmosphere and texture allows me to better capture the quiet, elegant power in the character's core. This teaser set is only a fraction of this shoot; more finished photos are currently undergoing retouching, and I hope to share this serene beauty with all of you through these frozen moments in our cosplay journey.
