[Fu Xuan Cosplay] Beneath the Omniscia: A Glimpse into Honkai: Star Rail

Why keep staring at Fu Xuan? In her own words, your every move has long been calculated by the Omniscia. The set of photos I'm sharing this time isn't exactly new—as I said, it's just re-posting old photos casually—but while sorting through my albums, seeing the shots taken under that night scene made me feel it was still worth sharing and documenting.

Let's start with the details of this styling. The pink wig with her signature looped bun actually took quite some effort to secure so that the two hairpins would stay firmly in place. The pairing of the blue diamond bindi mark on her forehead with the eye makeup is key to capturing the character's demeanor; I adjusted it for a long time before shooting to embody that composed "mastermind" calmness without looking overly stiff. The eye makeup was intentionally deepened along the contours to better convey the subtle "everything is under control" expression through my gaze.

As for the outfit, the off-the-shoulder design paired with the gold and purple neck piece visually elongates the neckline beautifully. The black-and-purple panel on the chest features gold thread totem patterns, with a firm, structured texture that doesn't look limp. The sash around the waist and the cascading purple-pink tassels create a sharp color contrast with the large areas of white gauze. What I'm most satisfied with overall is the white pantyhose paired with this costume; it has subtle jacquard patterns that help shape the leg lines without letting pure white look bland. The matching platform thick-heeled shoes feature strap details that add a unique techwear/anime style touch, and they are surprisingly stable when standing for long periods.

The shoot actually took place at night, and the venue setup was rich with mood. The Chinese-style tiled roofs in the background, glowing small lanterns on the side, and several porcelain white rabbits placed as foreground decorations all added a touch of xianxia domain aesthetic to the frame. We brought a few key props, such as a translucent round fan adorned with delicate 3D white petals, and an antique-style thick tome printed with vertical runes on its pages, which felt heavy and solid in hand.

Among this set, I especially love the photos holding the paper umbrella. To capture the nighttime texture, the photographer set up a strong backlight behind me; light shone through the oil-paper umbrella onto my face, forming a soft warm glow that immediately layered the entire color palette. During the shoot, a reflective film was specially spread on the ground, creating reflections and water-like ripple effects. This combination of real scenery and reflections made the shots much more vivid than simple studio photography.

The weather was quite cool on the day of the shoot. Although lighting for night scenes is tricky, the plus side is not being disturbed by crowds passing by. To find the right position holding the umbrella, I squatted on the ground trying various poses, adjusting the fan angle and the book placement to ensure the props and gaze were connected in every frame. In fact, that's where the greatest joy of doing cosplay lies: when you put on the outfit and wig and step into that carefully set up scene, you feel as though you've briefly stepped into the character's life.

While posting this set of "re-heated" photos, I was also thinking: although I want to pursue new breakthroughs every time I post, looking back at older works that I treated so earnestly, they captured my passion for the character and prop creation at that time. Even if my skills are better now and my camera presence is more seasoned, that excitement from wearing this outfit for the first time remains. The color scheme and overall aura of this costume fitted my original expectations remarkably well in this scene set against the night view and lanterns.

There's no need to care too much whether it's new or old; being able to capture that moment in front of the lens and showcase the character's confidence and serene coolness is deeply satisfying for me. I hope this prop setup with xianxia and traditional Chinese style elements, along with the nighttime light and shadow, allows everyone to feel the charm of this character.
