[Elbing Cosplay] Azur Lane's Elbing: Sharing a New Chinese Style Outfit with White Stockings

When the Lunar New Year theme for Elbing was finalized, I spent a lot of time thinking about how to combine the "New Chinese style" with the character's intrinsic traits. The costume adopted an off-the-shoulder design with wide flowing sleeves, where the black lace inner layer and white tulle formed a classic light-and-dark contrast. The volume of the lower skirt neatly grounded the silhouette, and paired with the slimming effect of the white stockings, the overall posture appeared taller and more poised. The golden embroidery and traditional frog button frog closures at the waist served as the highlights of this New Chinese style outfit; during the shoot, lighting angles were specially adjusted to make the gold threads reflect a richer texture.

The wig styling was quite detailed. To recreate the character's long straight white hair, high-luster synthetic fibers were used, giving the surface a faint, elegant sheen. The gold hairpieces on both sides combined handcrafted beadwork with metallic wire structures; although somewhat heavy, they were securely anchored and did not loosen despite frequent head movements and posture changes. Makeup was kept minimalist—a translucent base paired with soft pinkish-purple eyeshadow and blue-purple contact lenses made the gaze look bright yet touched with mystery. The red lip color was the key element brightening the overall makeup, creating an unexpectedly cool and ethereal aura against the white hair.

The photoshoot set utilized a full moon backdrop with Roman columns, with the floor covered in artificial moss and pink flowers. To create the sea of clouds effect, the photographer applied a cool-toned gradient in the background while the floor was blanketed with dry ice mist. This cool ambient lighting was very flattering to the skin tone, creating a fair and translucent texture that harmonized with the wardrobe. The botanical patterns on the prop folding fan exuded classical charm, serving as a subtle visual leading line in composition without overpowering the subject. During shooting, several poses were explored, such as holding the fan before the chest or crossing legs along the edge of the chair. Choosing the crossed-leg seated posture as the main shot was intended to maximize the visual extension of the body while highlighting the semi-sheer texture of the White stockings cosplay as the feet rested on the chair surface. The chair placement was adjusted to keep the subject centered on the main axis of the frame, avoiding an overly peripheral composition.

Preparation for this shoot was quite thorough; though done indoors, the atmospheric presence was strong. The session lasted around two hours, perfectly catching the peak of my energy. Because the outfit was light and free of heavy armor or bulky accessories, there was greater freedom in expression management to portray the character's calm, elegant side. Through this combination, I feel it preserved high character recognition while injecting fresh design sensibilities fitting the Spring Festival atmosphere. The overall tone and ambiance of the final Studio portrait aligned closely with my initial concept, making it a truly solid creative attempt.

Regarding props, the fan was not only a handheld piece but also served as a great tool for framing and extension during posing. Compared to simply having bare arms, an interactive physical prop gave the entire silhouette a fuller presence. The fan's motifs also resonated nicely with the skirt's textures. The dry ice smoke dissipated quickly on the ground, requiring fast shutter clicks when the mist was at its best form. This pacing constraint actually boosted shooting efficiency, allowing greater focus on immediate posture and demeanor. Having taken off the shoes to sit barefoot on the chair added a carefree, casual touch, creating a cute contrast against the otherwise elegant styling. Although this modified New Chinese style Elbing differs from her default in-game look, it gained a natural trans-dimensional plausibility under this atmospheric packaging.
