I compiled this set of The Shorekeeper cosplay photos along with some behind-the-scenes work shots. The overall direction for this Studio portrait was to convey a quiet, clear, and translucent mood, so after coordinating the location and costume, this blue-and-white color scheme outfit and props were chosen to fit the character's innate temperament.
Let's first discuss costume details. In terms of fabric selection, the main body uses draped white and light blue gauze material, with cutout waist designs and lace trim borders to highlight waistline proportions. What required the most effort was that dark blue starry hood—the lining was intentionally sprinkled with fine glitter powder, which naturally refracts shimmering specks of light under studio top-lighting. Slightly obscuring the face during shooting or lifting a corner with a hand creates an airy, dreamy effect. The silver metal wire coils wrapped around my arms were hand-wound by myself; I originally thought about using soft tubing or thin iron wire, but the texture wasn't right, so I combined specially coated materials with stiff wire to wrap securely around the arms without extra straps. The light blue flying insect prop in hand was also repainted by hand; from a craftsmanship standpoint, the prepared props matched the theme's fresh, Atmospheric styling.
For footwear, I chose barefoot styling paired with white tights. White tights actually test leg lines and overall color coordination significantly—if the stockings reflect too much light or look yellowish, it ruins the mood. The tights selected this time presented a matte finish under Studio portrait lighting, blending seamlessly into the white lace along the skirt hem, fitting the overarching Blue and white ethereal outfit style. Among the various poses, I particularly love sitting on the white wrought iron bench because its lines carry a vintage European feel; paired with the black grand piano and white orchids behind, it creates a rich contrast between warm and cool tones for deep visual layering.
Regarding makeup, eyeliner and shading were intentionally softened this time, placing focus on lens color selection and blush blending, paired with a light blue-and-white straight-bang wig to reinforce an "extraordinary" soft feel. The wig was pre-ironed to eliminate frizz and glare, yielding fantastic hair luster under cool light sources, especially when contrasted against the dark blue hood lining.
During the shoot, the photographer paid great attention to capturing light. The first two shots were taken in front of semi-sheer white fabric, utilizing natural light combined with reflector diffuse reflection to give skin a translucent, milky texture. The latter two photos switched to the black grand piano and white wrought iron bench as backdrops, making the atmosphere feel more like a cozy indoor Studio portrait filled with artistic flair. The chibi standee and white Phalaenopsis orchids on the piano were part of the scene, adding narrative depth and making the character appear as though integrated into a real dimensional rift.
When retouching this time, I avoided heavy color filters, preserving original color temperatures and highlight details as much as possible while slightly deepening blue tones in shadow areas for color balance, making transitions between white and blue feel more sophisticated. Personally, I feel the core of a Cosplay photo set isn't purely about replication, but rather re-expressing character demeanor through photographic language based on deep understanding. Daytime Studio portrait lighting was soft; post-processing highlighted dark subject areas to keep skin looking clean while preserving the glitter grain inside the starry hood.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with the post-production completion of this set. From prop fabrication and makeup-hair lock-in to actual shooting and photo selection, every step proceeded according to plan. Wandering around the studio in this outfit brought a focused sense of immersion, and I hope everyone feels the simple beauty delivered by these efforts in Anime-style photography.
