This set of convention photos features Ichinose Asuna in her jiangshi outfit from Blue Archive. The outfit's design incorporates many classic anime elements, with contrast between blue, white, and black, alongside a floating halo and talismans overhead that make it visually striking. In practice, the outfit offers a rich sense of layering. The outer black lace trim and ruffled cuffs, combined with pearl chains wrapped around the neck, beautifully enrich upper-body details. The chest area features crane and wave patterns; its hollowed-out center paired with a white inner layer keeps the look elegant while adding a touch of subtle charm. Bright sky-blue panels at the cuffs and a matching bow at the collar pull the visual focus together seamlessly.
The lower body consists mainly of a long pure-black coat, revealing vibrant colorful cloud-patterned linings at the hem. Paired with smooth, pure-white tights and white platform shoes, this white stockings cosplay combination creates a clean, crisp contrast against the exhibition floor. While the thick platforms put a bit of weight on the feet over time, they are absolutely necessary from a compositional standpoint to elongate leg proportions. For makeup and styling, I focused on a fresh look while capturing the character's traits; light-toned wigs really test lighting quality under chaotic convention lights, but photographer Pulao411 handled the light and shadow composition with immense professionalism.
In crowded indoor environments like an ACG convention, the main challenge for live photos lies in cluttered backgrounds and unpredictable lighting. During shooting, we specifically picked relatively open booth areas, using dark backgrounds to make the subject pop. The full-body shot in Figure 2 was taken in the main exhibition area with a low-angle perspective; paired with the gesture of raising sleeves, it nicely emphasized the garment's drape and dynamic motion. The actual process went very smoothly—the moment the shutter clicked, the stance in platform shoes, weight distribution, and the coat falling naturally with gravity made the final output look relaxed and unforced.
Additionally, regarding the floating halo and talisman overhead, keeping them stable during wear required hiding several bobby pins inside the wig, which took quite some effort. Small props like these seem decorative, but if they shift or tilt on camera, they look misaligned, so I spent extra time balancing them beforehand. The venue was filled with fellow photography enthusiasts, creating a friendly atmosphere where everyone politely gave way, resulting in a very comfortable Anime-style photography experience.
When doing cosplay, what I enjoy most is bringing out the character's unique demeanor through garments, makeup, and poses. Asuna's jiangshi outfit adds a touch of playful elegance compared to her conventional wear. Walking around the hall in this outfit, I felt everyone's appreciation for this specific style. Great Asuna cosplay photos require the right timing, location, and synergy—a fitting outfit, a complementary photographer, and proper post-processing to darken background elements—to deliver an authentic, atmospheric live capture.
