For the 2026 Port District Midsummer Cooling Festival this time, I prepared the styling for Max Immelmann from Azur Lane. The layering of this outfit is exceptionally rich; as a cosplayer, when restoring this look, I dedicated immense effort into fabric coordination. The inner piece is a black fitted bustier covered by a semi-transparent black mesh top, adorned with a golden ring buckle at the chest. The black cape worn over it is trimmed along the edges with very thick white fur, creating a black-and-white contrast that looks remarkably textured before the lens. The bottom is paired with black patent leather shorts, matched with black Stockings and a pair of glossy over-the-knee boots, achieving a fine balance between sharp coolness and sensuality across the overall silhouette.
The wig is long, straight pink-purple hair, which I deliberately layered so the roots would look naturally voluminous. To faithfully restore the character's traits, I gave the dark gray curved horns on the head a meticulous weathered paint finish, with pointy elf ears and green contacts serving as additional highlights of the makeup. The eye makeup deepened pink and red blending, paired with pink blush to make the facial expression harmonize better with the character's mysterious aura. Since this was a midsummer event, even though I was fully geared up, shooting in the indoor venue allowed light and shadow to play across the leather and mesh with surprisingly stunning results.
The shooting locations were selected across two spots. One set was shot in an indoor area with golden stanchions and steps, backed by a giant standee of a blonde character; overhead light traced the body lines cleanly as I sat on the steps, trying several gestures such as pulling the cape and raising a hand to touch the chest accessory. The other set was located in a dock scene backed by water and lifebuoys; the blue water surface and wooden railings suited the midsummer port theme perfectly. When I stood up and glanced back over my shoulder, a gentle breeze swept my hair, delivering a wonderfully refreshing summer feel.
As someone who frequently does Azur Lane cosplay, I place high importance on garment cut and fabric. The faux leather of this outfit reflects under stage lights, so I deliberately adjusted angles during shooting to prevent overexposure. The pairing of Stockings and tall boots flatters the leg shape immensely, and during framing, I made full use of the elevation differences of the steps to elongate visual proportions. The venue decoration was very thoughtful, with caution ribbons blending seamlessly into the environment, helping one slip into character quickly.
The atmosphere of the port district on the event day was bustling, with many fellow fans checking in across various zones. Although this styling was relatively heavily wrapped, the breathable material kept the shoot running smoothly. I adore the sense of contrast this costume brings—possessing both the mystery of demonic elements and a touch of the port's unique summer charm. In the final finished photos, the lighting, composition, and character emotion all fell into place, making it an exceptionally delightful shooting experience.
