This Christmas-themed Hatsune Miku photoshoot was actually wrapped up a while ago, but due to severe procrastination, I'm only now getting around to organizing and posting it.
For this shoot, we picked the realistic set at Zhiyingfang studio, which was decorated with an incredible festive atmosphere. Red velvet drapes, dark wood cabinets, and mountains of Christmas gift boxes piled across the black-and-white checkerboard floor created an exceptionally rich visual composition. To complement the scene, I wore this light blue off-the-shoulder cropped Christmas outfit trimmed with plush faux fur, accessorized with a deep blue necktie and a fuzzy choker, topped with a headband featuring white bunny ears and navy bows. For the lower half, I wore white fishnet pantyhose paired with light blue high heels adorned with fuzzy pom-poms, holding a classic candy cane prop in hand.
During the shoot, the photographer and I aligned closely on the desired vision. Because the costume naturally accentuates the silhouette, I aimed to strike a balance between cuteness and allure when designing poses. For example, in the cover shot, I sat sideways among the pile of gifts with the candy cane held horizontally across my torso; this not only established a visual leading line, but also cleanly showcased my leg contours and the texture of the White stockings. To accentuate my figure, I slightly adjusted the angle of my neck and shoulders to let the collarbones show naturally while keeping my facial expression sweet and charming.
Lighting control was essential for this set. Warm studio lights hitting the white fluff and fishnets brought out their rich textures instantly, while the photographer used a wide aperture to blur a small Christmas tree in the foreground, giving the image wonderful depth and layering. Kneeling and crouching poses were quite demanding on core strength; to prevent wardrobe malfunctions and maintain an elegant posture, I shifted my center of gravity multiple times. Throughout the process, I found that using the candy cane to guide the viewer's eye or using gift boxes as support points allowed my body to relax naturally, keeping the shots fluid and dynamic.
As someone deeply passionate about ACG culture, every cosplay is an attempt to capture that lively, agile spark of the character. Although this is a festive derivative design, the iconic teal twintails paired with the ensemble preserved Hatsune Miku's signature charm. The overall color saturation is vibrant, with bold contrasts of red, green, blue, and white; post-processing was kept to foundational skin brightening and tone harmonization to preserve the authentic on-site ambiance.
Looking at the final photos, what I love most is the pairing of the White stockings with the plush elements, which beautifully blends festive warmth with the character's mischievous charm. Striking poses amid piles of gifts was exhausting, but seeing the final result made every bit of effort completely worthwhile.
