[Furina cosplay] Genshin Impact: The 500-Year Curtain Call of Fontaine

This Furina cosplay costume has been one of the most intricate in terms of details to wear recently. The deep blue tailcoat utilizes extensive velvet fabric that casts a muted, elegant sheen under cool lights, complemented by highly dimensional gold embroidery on the cuffs and lapels. The metallic ornaments and feathers on the top hat had to be pre-styled and secured; otherwise, they shifted easily during motion. The oversized waist bow and sapphire brooch are attached independently and required precise alignment to the slimmest part of the waistline. The white inner shirt and pleated skirt were cinched to accentuate the waist, while the black leather thigh garter on the left leg combined with lace-trimmed white stockings added visual depth to the lower half. The deep blue bow-accented high heels, with their substantial height, demanded extra ankle balance when moving around.

The wig consisted of two layers; after pinning the inner net, the outer cascading curls and light blue gradient strands were partially heat-curled into shape. Padding the wig crown was essential to support the top hat and establish the overall silhouette. Makeup centered on the eyes, deepening the eye sockets with darker eyeshadow, while the foundation remained porcelain fair with a natural, low-saturation red lip to complement the character's melancholic, poised demeanor.

The set offered a pure white European-style interior, where archways and flowing gossamer drapes served as natural framing. On the left, a white classical column held a gold-framed birdcage floral arrangement with blue and white artificial blossoms filling in the color palette, while on the right, a tall silver crystal candelabra refracted delicate flares in the backlight. The floor was highly reflective, providing natural fill light while easily mirroring set clutter, necessitating repeated camera adjustments.

Pose choreography aligned closely with the sentiment of a final curtain call. The first shot featured a standing pose with gently lowered eyes and softly curved arms, presenting the full costume design. The second shot, with arms extended outward, required conscious neck and shoulder alignment to prevent the coat shoulders from bunching up. The third shot, cradling a blue prop book with a lowered gaze, called for strict jawline control—tilting too high felt unnatural, while tilting too low concealed my face. Wearing this outfit on set made me realize that the tailcoat's sweep must be actively controlled to avoid hiding the intricate waist accessories. The shoot moved at a deliberate pace, requiring us to verify the cuffs, corset, and skirt drape with every pose reset.
