Shooting this Unicorn Cosplay from Azur Lane was a wonderful journey, and I want to share my pre-shoot preparation and creative thoughts with everyone. The costume leans toward a dreamy vintage theme, so we selected an indoor setting featuring wooden floors, lattice windows, brass lamps, and a plush sofa. To complement the ambient warm glow during shooting, we intentionally lowered the camera's contrast, giving the entire frame a soft, doll-like porcelain texture.

Regarding the outfit, the white puffy dress is crafted from multiple tiers of tulle, requiring the petticoat to be carefully fluffed to achieve a petal-like flare. The blue satin ribbon at the collar and the side waist bow had to be adjusted to sit perfectly. The wig features a light purple gradient with blue tips; styling it required generous amounts of hair wax and setting spray to prevent it from losing its shape mid-shoot. The key prop was a soft, huggable plush unicorn—holding it enhanced the character's gentle approachability. During the shoot, I explored various poses, such as stretching my legs out while seated on the sofa paired with white stockings and brown round-toe loafers to flatter the leg lines. Poses like hugging my knees and resting my chin in my hand added a languid, docile innocence to the character.

For hair and makeup, the focus was on crafting a translucent, atmospheric base. To highlight the character's traits, I paired pinkish-purple contact lenses with dense, curled eyelashes, blending subtle lavender eyeshadow and applying blush around the cheekbones to create a dreamlike aura. The white stockings provided a clean baseline that harmonized seamlessly with the pale pastel palette. As a cosplayer, managing facial expressions was crucial: striving for a half-awake, dreamy look where the eyes remain focused yet faintly hazy, which took studying the original game illustrations closely.

Lighting played an essential role: natural light from the left window blended with the warm halo of the right table lamp to render skin tones remarkably soft. In post-processing, the focus was unifying the purple and white color tones while infusing a touch of vintage texture. To present the costume and props at their absolute best, I ironed the hem in advance and meticulously brushed out the wig. While the shoot tested physical stamina and patience, seeing the finished anime-style photography made every bit of effort worthwhile. Given the indoor constraints this time, I hope to shoot under natural outdoor sunlight next time to observe how different lighting catches the translucency of the white stockings and flowing skirt. This vintage indoor shoot offered immense inspiration, and I will continue to obsess over details to faithfully bring my favorite characters to life.
