This photoshoot for the Guangzhou Anime Convention actually took quite a while to prepare. From grooming the wig and fine-tuning the silhouette of the white dress to pairing it with this coffee-brown chunky knit cardigan, I tested everything multiple times. To me, the most fascinating part of cosplay is how you can recreate a character's essence through wardrobe and props while weaving in your own creative ideas. For instance, wearing this cardigan half-draped off the shoulders with sleeves bunched naturally isn't strictly how she wears it in official art, but it retains Unicorn's soft, adorable charm while adding a touch of relaxed everyday ease.

The daylight was spectacular that day—sunlight filtered softly through the tree leaves, and photographer Chao Ge truly knew how to capture that luminous, translucent clarity under natural light. We chose an outdoor area with a grey stone ledge and green foliage, where passersby wandering in the background were smoothly blurred out by a wide aperture, making the overall frame wonderfully clean and pure. Pairing White tights cosplay hosiery with pale pink Mary Jane shoes was a little styling detail I loved; with an overall palette of purple, white, and brown, adding a touch of soft pink made the look more playful, while the block heels prevented foot fatigue during long hours of standing outdoors. Cradling the little white plush toy gave my hands a natural resting point and added a solid character anchor to the shot.

The third close-up portrait was actually the most candid moment Chao Ge caught. I was looking down, adjusting my collar, when he called my name; I instinctively looked up at the lens with my hand still lightly holding the edge of my sweater. That unforced, unguarded expression was remarkably close to how I naturally daydream. Great cosplay photography doesn't always have to be stiff and poster-perfect—these languid, spontaneous instants often possess the most lasting charm.

The white sleeveless dress itself is packed with fine details: the yellow-and-white triangle patchwork at the collar, the red insignia crest on the chest, and the delicate lace hemline all keep the monochrome dress visually dynamic. A slender black ribbon tied around the waist cinched the silhouette higher for flattering proportions. Walking around the Guangzhou Anime Convention floor, many friends complimented the look for feeling effortlessly comfortable—neither heavy armor nor an extravagant gown, just pure, refreshing vitality.

Between takes, we experimented with different stances—sitting, leaning against the stone ledge, and even sitting directly on the ground, each bringing out a distinct mood. The seated shot with legs stretched forward offered great visual elongation alongside the white tights and shoes; however, needing a cover image with stronger facial expression, I opted for my favorite close-up portrait. The soft pink-and-white bow hair accessory harmonized tenderly with the wavy purple hair, and the clear gaze captured my state for this cosplay at its best.

Kudos to Chao Ge's lighting skills: even under strong outdoor daylight, he controlled highlights masterfully, preventing washed-out facial tones while preserving the delicate texture of the skin. Seeing the finished photos made every bit of preparation feel deeply worthwhile. Given the opportunity, I'd love to explore this styling in different settings—perhaps an indoor studio or during the golden hour at dusk for an entirely different mood.

Preparing a cosplay set is always a miniature creative journey. From material sourcing, tailoring, and test makeup to the final shoot, uncertainties abound, but the moment you see the finalized Convention photos, all fatigue completely vanishes. My experience at the Guangzhou Anime Convention was wonderful, and I look forward to meeting everyone again with fresh ideas next time.
