The moment I stepped into the indoor pool, the humid warmth mingled with the faint scent of disinfectant washed over me, while the white tiled walls gleamed under studio lighting, keeping the entire venue bright and translucent.
The centerpiece of this shoot was a navy blue one-piece school swimsuit infused with sailor suit design elements. The crisp white sailor collar and deep crimson oversized bow tie served as the visual focal points, while cold-shoulder cutouts made the white sleeves appear draped separately, complemented by subtle chest cutouts. The lower half was paired with white stockings over the knee, capturing that quintessential anime-style poolside aesthetic. To enhance the scene, I prepared playful props: the pink low stool in photo six, yellow rubber duckies on the floor, and the exaggerated novelty ice cream in photo four.
Shooting this set was a true test of core endurance. Seated by the pool edge in photo one, my hands gripped the chilled metallic handrails firmly with legs curled up. To bring out the best fabric texture in the white stockings, my toes had to point tautly toward the lens. White socks against white tile easily blow out if the exposure slips, so the photographer continuously calibrated reflector angles to preserve smooth gradations between textile and skin.
My favorite is photo three showcasing the strappy back details. Standing in profile with one hand resting softly against my neck, the crisscrossed ties and waist cutouts were fully exposed while glancing back toward the camera—a pose demanding genuine back flexibility. Photo six seated on the pink stool was equally fun: keeping my legs together and pointing forward from a slightly low angle dramatically elongated the leg lines. Yet because the tiled floor and stool surface were slick, my toes and calf muscles remained taut to stabilize myself, leaving my calves delightfully sore afterward.
The kneeling heart pose on the tiles in photo two looks effortless, but keeping my torso upright and expression relaxed while knees pressed against hard ground took real effort. With the ice cream shot, the indoor warmth melted the cream rapidly and the chocolate stick began to droop, requiring steady hands while flashing a natural smile. Lifebuoys along the wall and water guns in the corner neatly filled negative space, preventing the composition from looking sparse.
The entire shoot flowed smoothly without entering the water, relying on posture and props to channel summer vibes. The contrast between the dark swimsuit and white collar stood out crisply under bright light, an interplay accentuated during post-grading. The white stockings retained natural sheer transparency and subtle skin undertones without aggressive smoothing, preserving bone structure and muscular contour. Between the lighting, framing, and styling details, I am thoroughly pleased with this shoot—a truly enjoyable creative experience.
