[Chisa cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Chisa's Urban nightscape Photo Record

The production of this Chisa cosplay styling was finally completed smoothly. To catch the optimal window for night shooting, we started our preparations early in the afternoon. Trimming and styling the wig took over an hour; Chisa's long straight black hair, combined with blunt bangs and hime-cut sideburns, required razor-sharp layering, as even a touch of excess bulk would look stiff. For makeup, the focus was placed heavily on the eyes: crimson contact lenses paired with cool-toned eyeshadow, accented with a subtle red lip. To preserve sharp three-dimensional facial contouring under cool night lights, a matte foundation was paramount, set thoroughly in advance to prevent shine or makeup meltdown from nighttime sweat.

The wardrobe was recreated with great fidelity. The cropped black top designed in a Sailor suit style, complete with a crisp white collar and red necktie, delivered strong visual contrast. The gray-blue spliced jacket draped over it had a substantial, textured weight, with the white cross motif on the left arm and tag details on the right executed spot-on. The black leather belt at the waist and hanging ID badge accessories infused a dash of techwear aesthetic. Before rolling, I repeatedly adjusted the cropped hem length and tie positioning to ensure the silhouette remained sleek and flattering even during wide-movement posing. While the jacket offered some shelter against the night breeze, the cropped design exposed my midriff directly to the chill, so I had to bundle up in a heavy coat between takes.

The prop was a red, black, and gold piece among fantasy weapons, boasting an intricate structural design and noticeable heft in hand; managing forearm tension was critical during the shoot to prevent rigid, unnatural poses. We selected a rooftop with industrial metal trusses, backdropped by an immense Ferris wheel and gleaming skyline towers. The city lights were dazzling, but to help the figure pop cleanly from the Urban nightscape backdrop, we employed dual-color temperature lighting: cool white light illuminated garment textures in the foreground, while warm rim lighting separated the silhouette from the background, with peripheral clutter crushed in post to highlight a futuristic cyberpunk mood. This setting demanded flawless facial lighting, requiring constant angle adjustments to cooperate with the key lights.

The trickiest part was the strong night wind—long locks of hair constantly blew across my face, so after every take, I checked with photographer Nanaho Ikeda to make sure the wig and tie hadn't been thrown out of place. Wielding the heavy weapon meant keeping my wrist at an awkward angle to appear effortless, leaving my arms quite sore after hours of shooting. To channel that aloof, piercing gaze, I immersed myself into the nighttime atmosphere, imagining the character's solitary vigilance atop the skyscrapers. Seeing the developed final shots made all the grueling effort worthwhile.
