The Genshin Impact Ganyu Cosplay photos are officially out. This time, I specifically combined three different atmospheric environments, attempting to capture the traits of this secretary of the Liyue Qixing—a blend of ethereal aura, intellect, and gentleness. The preparation for this set of photos actually took a lot of effort, from adjusting the costume's pattern and styling the wig, to balancing the cool yet warm colors in the makeup, all hoping to get as close as possible to my understanding of this character.
The first set, shot in an indoor library, mainly aims to show the character's everyday side as the epitome of heavy workloads in Liyue Harbor. The dark wooden structure of the antique bookshelves as the background, paired with the faux ancient book prop in hand, excellently highlights a calm and quiet atmosphere. The overall color scheme of the outfit is primarily blue and white; the black semi-transparent splicing at the collar along with the black lace-up adds a layer of design to the solemnity. The white long gloves wrap up to the elbows, matching the unique blue-and-white ink-wash prints on the skirt and the draped dark blue tassels. Every detail is worth savoring, hoping to convey the character's scholarly vibe in a static state.
The second set shifted to an outdoor Chinese-style garden. Under the illumination of natural light, the overall picture becomes bright and transparent. The background features classical architectural structures with red pillars and white walls, paired with emerald bamboo behind—a very typical traditional Chinese scene. I switched to a round fan as a handheld prop, sitting on the vermilion wooden railing with my legs hanging naturally, allowing the Black stockings and high heels to fully extend in the frame. This relaxed posture actually better reflects the character's leisurely and gentle life breath outside of her serious daily work. The skin tone under outdoor natural light appears much softer, which perfectly aligns with the character's original temperament.
The third set is a close-up series on the floor of a room, which I personally really like. This time, I deliberately adjusted the angle and posture, adopting a kneeling-sitting position, holding a blue-covered ancient book in one hand and slightly supporting myself on the ground with the other, forming a smooth curve with my body. This set of photos optimizes the composition specifically for elements that everyone loves, highlighting the combination of semi-transparent Black stockings and pointed glossy high heels; the red soles serve as an excellent color accent in the frame. At the same time, the collar cut and black sheer perspective add a touch of agility and allure to the whole figure while maintaining the character's original dignity and virtue. Paired with a cool-toned side light, it perfectly outlines the character's silhouette.
During the photoshoot, the photographer's control over lighting positions and angles was spot-on; the final presentation of these three different states is inseparable from the team's hard work. Because Ganyu is inherently a highly representative character in this work, her contrasting charm of being aloof yet clumsy, along with her capability and gentleness as a secretary, makes one very eager to attempt portraying her. Although Genshin Impact's character costumes often have complex details, the fabric selection and pattern of this cosplay outfit achieve a great balance between wearability and visual effect, allowing me to move freely in various poses. When posing, especially wearing Black stockings and high heels, one must pay great attention to the angle of the feet and the direction of the knees, so that the lines from the thighs to the toes show the most graceful extension in front of the lens. This set of photos selected three states: the library, the garden, and indoor localized sitting, which can be seen as a small summary of the character's multifaceted nature. I hope this visual expression can bring everyone a different understanding of this character.
