When shooting this set of Blue Archive Kasumizawa Miyu Cosplay photos, I selected a pure white studio setting, which maximized the blue-and-white color palette of the costume and preserved the clean simplicity of the frame. For hair and makeup, I used a deep purple long straight wig paired with rabbit ear headbands and leaf-shaped hair clips, creating a radiant sheen under the studio lighting. The outfit combined a white blouse with a light blue pinafore dress, while the lower half featured a black skirt paired with White stockings, creating clear, distinct color contrast.
During the shoot, we experimented with varied compositions and props. Sitting on the metal folding chair with feet crossed in the air clearly highlighted leg lines. Kneeling on a circular platform while holding a brown disc prop and glancing back added dynamic movement variations. We also tried the classic look of emerging halfway from a trash can—the gray-blue trash can formed a striking color contrast against the pure white background. In the shot with legs raised against the rim of the trash can, the White stockings created a clean separation against the darker hue of the bin.
In post-processing, I focused on fine-tuning skin texture, making it translucent without losing details, while carefully managing garment folds and the semi-opaque thickness of the White stockings. I balanced overall light-and-dark contrast to ensure the frames remained bright and soft. Expressing the character's personality, I believe a clean, natural photography style best brings out the subject's nimble charm. The shoot was very relaxed, with ample lighting and easily accessible props. Adjusting compositions and poses aligned seamlessly with pre-production plans, yielding very satisfying results.
Shooting against a white background truly tests a model's physical control: without complex environmental elements, facial expressions and body language become the focal core, so I strove to respond naturally to the camera. Sharing these creative insights touches upon every detail of the process. Because of the classic pairing of White stockings with a black skirt, I held high standards for skin texture rendering. On set, reflectors bounced soft light onto my face, allowing the White stockings to show a delicate semi-translucent texture under the lights—a subtle nuance I aimed to preserve authentically.
While the canon 2D character setting is inherently introverted, blending it with Sweet girl makeup and aesthetic required subtle adjustments to my gaze. We set up six different camera angles, fine-tuning repeatedly to find the most flattering perspectives and natural body language. Managing light and shadow meant prioritizing softness, avoiding crushed blacks, and unifying brightness across face and legs for visual endurance. In every portrayal, I strive to convey the character's lived reality through micro-expressions. The outfit felt nicely fitted with great mobility. The pairing of White stockings and black skirt popped brilliantly against the monochrome background, validating all our pre-shoot preparations. I prefer color tones that merge seamlessly with the scene to create cohesive visual harmony.
