[Yakumo Chen cosplay] Fluffy Cat Girl in a Sunny Forest-style Cabin

For this Touhou Project Yakumo Chen cosplay styling shoot, I put a lot of effort into outfit coordination. The overall look selected a red-and-white color-blocked Lolita-style dress. The white puff sleeves of the upper bodice feel soft and voluminous, while the red bow tie at the neckline adds playful charm to the character. Print patterns across the chest and waist are highly intricate, featuring floral and geometric textures whose tones echo the red hem wonderfully. The skirt hem features multi-layered red ruffles trimmed with pure white lace along edges, creating rich visual depth when walking. Paired with red chunky-heeled leather shoes and over-the-knee White stockings, it elongates leg lines while fitting the Moe image of Yakumo Chen cosplay perfectly. The cyan-green ruffled headpiece atop the head, combined with that pair of fluffy cat ears, serves as the true soul completing this character. Of course, most indispensable of all is that pair of huge, fluffy white cat paw gloves—they feel great in hand and build an incredible plush texture during close-up shots.

The shooting location was selected at a small cabin in the forest. The natural ecosystem here is very rich, with solid wood stairs and railings full of rustic, country charm. In the compositions sitting on the wooden stairs in photo 2, backlighting brings subtle Tyndall effect rays, as sunlight filtering through high leaves casts dappled light and shadow across the skirt hem and over-the-knee White stockings, instantly maxing out the atmosphere. Surrounding hanging ferns, moss, and small wild flowers on the ground form a harmonious yet subtly conflicting beauty alongside the character's gorgeous attire. I also shared the frame with a small black cat in front of the porch in photo 1; sitting peacefully on the brick floor, it felt as though Yakumo Chen cosplay had truly been brought to the Youkai Mountain of the real world.

Regarding costume wear experience, this dress carries substantial volume; while beautiful, finding suitable seated postures on the steps required extra care to prevent the skirt hem from snagging on wooden splinters. Natural wig presentation was another key focus; brown short hair paired with straight bangs made my face look smaller and more delicate, fitting the character's innate anime texture. In terms of facial expressions, I avoided forcing exaggerated smiles, maintaining a subtly languid and innocent natural demeanor instead, complemented by gestures like holding tree branches or lightly lifting skirt hems to restore the effortless cuteness of a cat girl. The photographer focused heavily on capturing interaction between lighting and the subject—low camera angles made great use of sunlight and background green leaves, endowing frames with both translucency and dreamlike aesthetics.

Although the shooting process was accompanied by challenges of mosquitoes and high temperatures, obtaining these photos filled with natural light, shadows, and vivid colors made all previous hard work feel entirely worth it. Standing in front of a Forest-style cabin in such Lolita-element attire felt like experiencing a wondrous journey where anime and reality truly intertwined.
