This Genshin Impact Hu Tao cosplay shoot took about two weeks from preparing the costume to the final photos. The wig was chosen to have a dark brown base with red streak highlights; to create a natural curve and sense of layering, I spent a lot of time every day styling the bangs and sideburns. The makeup focused on the eyes, using red colored contacts paired with elongated eyeliner to highlight that lively yet slightly mysterious gaze. As for the costume, the texture of this dark brown top is very good, and the striking bright red at the neckline is eye-catching. The golden rope decoration on the chest has a strong three-dimensional feel, and it took quite a bit of effort to secure it flat against the clothing without curling up.

The prop on the hat was a minor challenge; the totem drawn on that yellow cardstock was hand-drawn stroke by stroke by myself. To achieve that aged texture, I repeatedly layered several different paints. The paper talisman held in my hand was treated the same way, written with gold paint, giving it a solid, weighty feel in hand. The scene setup on the day of the shoot was meticulously arranged, featuring red maple leaves paired with Chinese-style wooden windows and a wooden reclining chair, along with warm yellow lantern light, giving the entire environment a mystical yet vibrantly atmospheric vibe. I sat on a wooden chair covered with a white blanket and adjusted several poses. Ultimately, I found that a slightly forward-leaning posture with crossed legs best showcased the lines of this outfit, especially when paired with white stockings and red leg ring decorations, which created a visually layered effect.

To capture that playful feel, I made a V-sign gesture at the camera and tried poses like touching my face with one hand and examining the paper talisman. Since it was shot sitting down, the texture of the white stockings against the blanket required precise lighting coordination, and the photographer captured many angles, resulting in a very natural final look. The shooting process was actually quite tiring, especially maintaining a fixed posture on the wooden chair while wearing stockings, which made my legs go numb after a little while. However, seeing the seamless integration of the character and the background in the final photos made it all worthwhile. My favorite part of the entire shoot is the color scheme of the costume and its compatibility with the scene; the collision of brown and red looks particularly harmonious against the background of autumn red maple, and the wood grain contrasts nicely with the fabric texture. Holding the talisman and thinking of the line, 'Traveler, let me protect you,' I tried my best to make my gaze show that firm yet gentle strength. This set of photos is a sincere interpretation of the character Hu Tao from Genshin Impact, and I hope to showcase her unique charm through the details.
