[Sakuya Izayoi cosplay] Touhou Project's Phantom Maid: Where Elegance and Lethality Coexist

The main focus of this Cosplay photography shoot was on shaping the gaze for close-up shots and creating a cool, sharp ambiance. As the primary visual in the first photo, the deep blue colored contacts are extremely vibrant. To complement the volume of the white hair, the base makeup was kept exceptionally clean and crisp, softening superfluous shadows to give facial contours a more defined dimension. The lips were given a subtle pearlescent nude-pink finish, which, combined with direct frontal lighting, evoked an aloof, detached elegance. The lace and black bow headpiece at the crown has a very structured shape; its inlaid sapphire and the blue florals on the props formed a beautifully coordinated accent. Meanwhile, the angle of looking directly into the lens paired with curtain bangs faithfully captured the character's enigmatic poise and composure.

The second photo is an indoor bathroom mirror selfie displaying the full outfit styling. Although the face is blurred for privacy, the primary goal is to clearly show the rich layering of this black, white, and blue Gothic maid outfit. The jacquard weave on the white blouse, the oversized black bow on the chest, and the ruby brooch in the center—paired with a waist-cinching black lace-up corset and a voluminous dark blue skirt trimmed with intricate lace—make the overall visual elements exceptionally rich. The edges of the white lace apron are treated to be light and airy, preventing the lower body from looking bulky or dragging down my height. The trickiest part to handle throughout the entire shoot was the throwing knife with metallic texture—one of our key Metal props. While the prop itself wasn't heavy, the blue crystal embellishments on it could easily look chaotic under reflections, so we carefully shaped the lighting to control unwanted highlights and shadows. To capture the most natural grip and the visual tension of the blade pointing forward, the photographer clicked dozens of shutter frames for the close-up shot before finalizing the best one. For the mirror selfie, to account for wide-angle lens distortion, I tilted my body weight slightly backward to elongate the drape of the skirt, and the edge distortion of the mirror was subtly corrected in post-processing.

Overall, while staying true to canon lore, this look emphasized the coexistence of elegance and lethality through precise control of lighting and details. The synergy between makeup, wardrobe, and Metal props completely met expectations for this Cosplay photography session. In particular, the layering of the props and facial features in the close-up shot was balanced just right. From composition to emotional delivery, everything fell into place with a clean, high-end finish, making this Sakuya Izayoi cosplay a truly dedicated and rewarding character portrayal.
