This outfit for Sangonomiya Kokomi offered so many delightful surprises in its craftsmanship. In terms of textile selection, to faithfully recreate the essence of Hydro and the deep sea, the outer tulle was chosen in a subtly shimmering gradient blue that casts an exquisite rippling gleam as I moved or caught the lights. The oversized bow across the chest not only anchors the visual center, but its embedded gem was crafted with UV resin to simulate a colored glass luster, appearing breathtakingly translucent under the illumination. The black choker around the neckline adorned with a blue gem adds an extra touch of sophistication. I specifically selected a pair of White stockings (tights) accented with geometric line patterns to cleanly contour the leg lines during seated and leg-lift poses. In this set, managing the sheen of the White stockings was actually quite a test; harsh direct lighting would make them look like plastic, so I asked the photographer to rely predominantly on softboxes, using ground bounce cards and ripple projection boards for fill light so the cool color palette could breathe with an ethereal, airy radiance.

For props, the clear water bubble and jellyfish were handcrafted using transparent acrylic spheres and holographic laser film, refracting rainbow-like iridescent polarization from specific angles. On set, we built an environment reminiscent of an undersea dragon palace—draped with layers of blue sheer fabric in the background, corners carpeted with faux white daisies and blue blossoms, and suspended with little fish and bead strands. To keep the composition dynamic, I explored diverse poses: lying on my side across the ice-blue reflective floor required engaging the core so my curves flowed naturally, while utilizing a circular platform as support for a single-leg stance showcased the flowing grace of the voluminous water sleeves. The expansive cuffs are notoriously tricky to manage on camera, so we subtly secured the inner seams with delicate safety pins to preserve the exterior silhouette while keeping the flare of the cuffs curving flawlessly.

Regarding facial expressions and eye control, while Kokomi has a gentle, delicate side as the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island, she is also a leader whose gaze must carry wisdom and resolve. When posing—even during adorable gestures like cupping the bubble—I kept my eyes sharply focused with penetrating clarity. The obi sash and hanging tassels required meticulous adjustment to avoid obscuring the leg lines while maintaining an effortless drape. The entire shoot was genuinely demanding on stamina, especially maintaining poised seated postures and center of gravity in platform shoes. While platform shoes offer great height elongation, holding poses for extended durations makes the insteps ache, requiring constant shifts in foot pressure. Seeing the color fidelity of the final shots made every bit of preparation completely worthwhile.

The glossy floor in the studio looked gorgeous, but picked up footprints and reflection flaws easily, so everyone treaded carefully to dodge bad angles during shooting. The overhead strands of colorful beads and blue fish not only broadened the depth of field, but also formed elegant leading lines across the frame. Because the outfit's colors are already richly saturated, post-processing didn't require drastic color shifts, focusing instead on intensifying light-and-shadow contrast to make the blue and white tones look crisper and purer. This shoot gave me invaluable experience in underwater lighting and set construction, and I hope everyone can feel the tranquil dreamscape of this deep sea through these photos.
