[Yae Miko Cosplay] Bridal Style Fox Immortal, Captured at Beijing IDO Anime Convention

These convention photos of a bridal style Yae Miko cosplay were shot at the Beijing IDO Anime Convention at the Beijing Exhibition Center. For this photoshoot, extensive preparations were made regarding hair and makeup. The pink wig was restyled to have a beautiful shine, paired with custom gold fox-ear accessories and a lightweight white veil headpiece. Aligning with the character concept from Genshin Impact, the costume features white lace and translucent tulle over a layered soft pink ballgown skirt. The overall silhouette retains the character's cute, lively spirit while adding the regal glamour of a bridal style look. For accessories, I specifically chose white high-heeled sandals accented with pearls and bows, paired with white stockings and lace thigh bands—details designed to visually elongate leg proportions in the composition. The pale bouquet in hand served as the finishing touch, infusing fresh vitality into the pink-and-white color scheme.

The lighting inside the exhibition hall was actually quite complex at the time. We chose a spot near the floor-to-ceiling windows, where diffuse reflection provided soft illumination while avoiding weird color casts caused by chaotic ceiling lights. Among these four photos, the one I value most is the first image featuring a single-leg standing pose. Although this pose appears effortless, it requires stabilizing my center of gravity on one leg, which, combined with the hard soles of the high-heeled sandals, placed high demands on balance. The photographer's framing combined this moment beautifully with the window highlights, giving the tulle skirt and leg lines a translucent, crystalline texture under backlight. The flowing dynamic motion of the long skirt hem was also captured wonderfully.

Switching to a high stool for seated poses later was intended to display Yae Miko's signature languid and relaxed temperament. As seen in Photos 2 and 4, resting my chin on one hand or leaning slightly sideways while extending my legs not only emphasizes the texture of the stockings and the accent of the leg bands, but also allows the intricate skirt to drape with richer layers and volume. When shooting such elaborate costumes, the biggest fear is the petticoat collapsing or the skirt getting flattened out of shape, so I readjusted the distribution of the tulle skirt every few shots to ensure all pleats flowed in the right direction. In the profile shot of Photo 3, we intentionally captured the fill-light equipment on location—a large softbox on the left and a high spot source on the right rear. This lighting layout sculpts a more three-dimensional silhouette, preventing the subject from looking flat against the cluttered convention background.

The venue at the Beijing Exhibition Center is very spacious, and foot traffic during the anime convention was quite heavy. Finding a clean background without disturbing visitors required relying mostly on low angles or clever positioning behind pillars. Although some water bottles, backpacks, and mannequin heads are still visible on the floor in the final photos, I personally feel this subtle \"on-site convention feel\" gives the photos more vitality than pure studio shots. Cosplaying a character related to Genshin Impact at Beijing IDO Anime Convention actually comes with quite a bit of pressure, as you constantly meet fellow fans who know the characters inside out. This encouraged me to meticulously check whether every little detail in makeup, hair, and costume accessories was executed properly.

Overall, this photoshoot was a live exercise in my character portrayal skills. Heading out to an anime convention is always a test of both physical stamina and creative effort—from donning gear and styling wigs in the early morning, to scouting lighting and camera angles across the hall, all the way to seeing the final images. Though exhausted upon returning to the hotel, seeing the bridal style Yae Miko in the photos presenting a perfect blend of regal glamour and cool elegance made all the fatigue vanish in an instant.

This shooting experience at Beijing IDO Anime Convention was immensely fulfilling, thanks to professional lighting support on site and thorough anticipation of the Genshin Impact character's demeanor in advance. I hope to consistently produce convention photos with such strong thematic clarity in future events.
