Today was primarily about final fitting preparations for the Rendland anime convention on October 5th. This Tsaritsa cosplay costume took a great deal of effort from initial conception to full tailoring, and this session was mainly to verify the silhouette and mobility of several key components. The headpiece is remarkably heavy; while the blue gems across the crown look visually stunning, wearing them pinned to the hair for extended periods pulls against the scalp, so I added soft padding along the interior to relieve the pressure. The wig styling will also need a quick trim around the sideburns before the convention to ensure the strands don't obstruct my field of view.
Garment-wise, the plush fur shawl is certainly warm, though it might get a bit stifling inside the autumn exhibition halls. I reinforced the star-shaped brooch on the chest and the jewelry along the collarbones to keep them secure while walking. The gown's lower train is exceedingly long; during the fitting, I paired it with white diamond-pattern Stockings cosplay and pointed-toe high heels. The drape of the skirt and the textures of the stockings looked well-balanced in the full-length mirror. While testing movements, I noticed the blue fabric across the back creases easily when sitting down, meaning it will likely need a fresh steam before the event. To check my overall presence for the convention, I took mirror selfies from different angles. Although they are just mirror shots with the phone veiling my face since I wasn't wearing full makeup today, I hope everyone understands. For the textile selection, I strived to balance substantial weight with lustrous sheen, adding skin-friendly linings beneath.
I am currently searching for group cosplay partners! If anyone is heading to Rendland on October 5th and cosplaying characters from Genshin Impact's Snezhnaya, please come join me. We can take convention photos together or roam the venue. If anyone recognizes me on the day, feel free to say hi! I'll be carrying makeup touch-up supplies and extra bobby pins just in case.
Another detail from this fitting is the gloves: painting the patterns took hours, and while I used specialized pigments to prevent bleeding, putting them on still requires caution to avoid snagging with fingernails. Packing up afterwards, I realized the plush fur trims need another comb-through. Hopefully the weather won't be too warm so I can rock this full attire comfortably. Having group mates around would be fantastic for helping each other adjust outfits, especially the rear train, which is tricky to smooth out alone. I've also stashed small candies in my bag for energy boosts and mapped out my convention route in advance. I plan to do a final inspection of the wig and props over the coming days. If any fellow fans want to walk the halls together, feel free to reach out anytime. I'll also test makeup longevity over the next few days, as staying in the venue all day means preventing melting makeup is essential for good photos. Overall, this fitting met expectations, and now it's down to fine-tuning. Looking forward to meeting everyone at Rendland and having a blast!
As for more garment details: the high collar design on the neck looks gorgeous, but it feels slightly restrictive when tilting my head down, so I plan to minimize downward glances at the event. The oversized blue star brooch on the chest uses both magnets and safety pins for double security—the fabric underneath is delicate, so relying solely on pins might tear the weave. Checking these micro-details during fittings is vital to prevent on-site accidents.
Regarding the shoes and stockings: the heels aren't extraordinarily high, but walking the venue all day will still be tiring, so I'll pack a pair of flats as backups. While the white diamond-patterned stockings look stunning, they snag easily; I was careful around sharp edges during the fitting, and I'll definitely pack a spare pair for the convention.
For Snezhnaya-style costumes from Genshin Impact, the contrast between warm and cool tones is striking. Splicing glossy blue fabrics with matte white textiles delivers fantastic dimensional depth under photography strobes. Testing the outfit under both indoor lighting and natural daylight revealed distinct personalities: under indoor lighting, the gems sparkle brightly; under natural light, the overarching silver-white tones feel much softer. For convention lighting, color temperatures might need slight tweaking in post.
Finding cosplay group mates is truly important. Fewer people cosplay Snezhnaya characters compared to other regions, so grouping up makes for incredible photos. I plan to bring a compact reflector so we can ensure even facial illumination even in tricky convention lighting.
Finally, concerning the fitting experience: donning multi-layered cosplay gear solo is quite an ordeal, particularly lacing the back and arranging the voluminous train. Having friends along will make things much smoother. I'm even considering recording a brief dressing tutorial to share with others planning to make or wear this costume. Before that, though, I need to master every inch of it myself.
Everything is set, and all that's left is the convention itself. I'll rest well over the next few days to keep my skin in top shape and greet everyone at my best. See you at Rendland on October 5th—come say hi!
