[Kaveh cosplay] To Idealism: A Summer Journal by the Fairytale Wooden Cabin

Heading to Foshan Sanshui Squirrel Tribe in the midsummer heat of late July under temperatures approaching 40°C, I searched for a wild backdrop that matched this blue-and-white outfit. Shooting in an outdoor location in such hot weather was indeed a double test of physical endurance and willpower, but stepping onto the grass surrounded by fairytale-style set props, the sense of immersion dispelled part of the summer heat. Preparation for this shoot was quite thorough; I specifically styled the braided hair details and clipped a color-matching feather ornament to the side of my head, striving to recreate the character's scholarly and idealistic traits.

The costume itself features a very layered design: a sky-blue robe with wide sleeves paired with a golden diamond pattern at the neckline. The overall silhouette is relatively large, and its color pop under outdoor sunlight is excellent. To suit this clear, bright aura, the outdoor location specifically chose spots around buildings with mottled walls and wooden elements inside Squirrel Tribe. The first spot was under a wooden balcony and a vaulted window with grilles, where I sat casually on the grass holding a bouquet of light-colored artificial flowers as sunlight hit the blue and white stripes of the hem softly. Next, we moved to a nearby stone-paved round archway, where natural light and shadow felt very tranquil. Borrowing a prop book nearby, sitting cross-legged fitted the vibe of this outdoor library seamlessly.

Beside a mushroom-shaped prop covered in greenery, the photographer used a fog machine to create hazy vapor. The posture of leaning halfway across the mushroom was better suited to express the character's occasional laziness and fatigue after laying down his burdens. In fact, the pace throughout the afternoon was very compact—from the leisure of leaning against the wall touching vines to the exploratory feeling of standing under the cabin looking up at the roof, every attempt aimed to explore the emotional anchor points of this character in different scenes. Photographer "Shuidajiao"'s grasp of light was remarkably precise, especially the choice of backlit and side-backlit angles, giving the bright-colored attire an added sense of translucency. I encountered quite a few onlookers during the Cosplay photography session, but I maintained my character state throughout, as if I were truly a traveler who strayed into a fairytale world.

Post-processing preserved the scene's raw texture without over-retouching the environment, instead highlighting weathered details like peeling wall paint and blurred greenery in the foreground. Running around the outdoor location all day in this outfit, although taking off the wig and boots at the end was a huge relief, capturing so many vibrant moments made every drop of sweat feel worthwhile. While organizing these photos, many words related to idealism came to mind; this presentation of light, shadow, and posture effectively conveyed the feeling I wanted to express. I hope this set of photos presents that vibrant yet serene and gentle warmth.
