[Yae Miko cosplay] Fox-Eared Shrine Maiden in Spring

For this Yae Miko cosplay showcase, the focus was placed on styling textures and the selection of shooting perspectives; here are a few insights and reflections from the shoot.

First, regarding the costume and props. The tailoring of the red-and-white outfit is fairly intricate, particularly the exceptionally wide sleeves. To convey elegance while posing, special attention was paid to wrist angles to allow the fabric to drape naturally. The golden collar ornament has some heft, requiring proper weight balance adjustments to prevent shifting during shooting. The red-and-white origami prop in hand was the finishing touch—during Photography, it can be used like in the pictures to stretch compositional lines and add visual depth, though one must mind grip pressure to avoid wrinkling it.

Next, the hair and makeup. Trimming the layers of the pink wig's bangs took quite a while, and the gradient tips take on a soft, fluffy texture under studio lights. Purple contact lenses and pink eyeshadow were chosen to elongate the eyes, with eyeliner intentionally drawn with a slight upward wing to lend the gaze extra vibrancy before the lens. Securing the headwear was also meticulous work, pinning it inside the wig to ensure it wouldn't drop during head turns and disrupt facial expression continuity.

We chose an indoor setting with expansive white plush fleece for the background, cultivating a soft, lazy ambiance. The photographer tested various angles, ultimately settling on reclining and chin-resting compositions. For instance, the side-lying pose naturally accentuates leg lines; paired with a high-angle downward shot by the photographer, it highlights complete body curves with the subject centered in the frame. During shooting, I guided myself into a relaxed state, resting my chin on my hand and looking straight into the lens to accentuate the character's unruffled composure. Along the way, we shifted positions back and forth to find the right expression and lighting angles, communicating repeatedly on lighting direction to prevent harsh shadows on the face and legs. Post-processing only involved subtle color grading and background blurring to make the subject pop.

Character designs in Genshin Impact are packed with intricate details; preparing this Yae Miko cosplay took extensive time back and forth, from grasping the 2D character lore to refining live posing nuances, striving at every step to embody the character's aura while delivering superior visual aesthetics. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this shooting experience and the resulting photos—it was a wonderful attempt!
