This Alice-themed shoot for Furina (Furina cosplay) from Genshin Impact (Genshin Impact) is dropping a day late, simply because post-processing required considerable time. To hit the birthday milestone, I retouched the images through the night. Since this serves as a grand premiere commemoration, every detail had to be dialed in flawlessly. The wardrobe follows the classic blue-and-white palette; to capture that fairytale allure while staying true to the Hydro Archon's persona, the diamond and club motifs across the gown alongside the navy collar bow were finalized only after visiting multiple tailoring studios. The fabrics blend subtle-sheen satin and jacquard damask, which produce exquisite visual depth under studio lighting.
For the wig, short white locks transition into pale blue ombre tips; to achieve that airy, naturally tousled volume, I used generous amounts of styling spray and pomade. Her iconic ahoge was engineered around a flexible silver wire armature wrapped in matching fibers to keep it standing upright—I was constantly terrified it might bend in a breeze or brush against props. The miniature blue-and-white striped top hat was another fun accessory, worn at a jaunty tilt to inject a touch of whimsical magician flair.
The blue-and-black striped fitted leggings on the lower half were a core focal point of the styling, functioning visually like patterned Stockings (Stockings). Because they had to endure wide-ranging dynamic poses, stretch and form-fitting compression were paramount. Fortunately, even during leap shots, the fabric resisted bunching up, and paired with platform shoes, the elongation of the leg lines looked remarkably flattering on camera.
We shot across three distinct sets. The first was positioned before a blue hydrangea flower wall, where post-processing integrated floating blue-and-white Hydro Eidolon sprites to infuse organic magic and whimsy into the frame. The second setup stood before a stained-glass archway; that airborne leap took multiple takes to control the bell-curve flare of the skirt while maintaining pristine facial expressions and landing without stepping on the hem. The third setup featured a flower bouquet, where pink rose ribbons were deliberately selected to create a bold color clash against the blue wardrobe, amplifying visual impact.
Channeling Furina's temperament meant embodying her theatrical confidence tinged with proud, playful vanity. For eye cosmetics, I wore azure contact lenses and widened the blended eyeshadow perimeter to make the eye shape appear slightly rounder. Facing the lens, I maintained that subtle, inspecting smile with a tucked chin and a dreamy, distant gaze. Professional cosplay is never just slipping into a costume—it is projecting the character's living aura into the surrounding environment. From cosmetics and hair to choreography, every step underwent rigorous testing to leave a high-caliber photographic record for her birthday this year.
