[Yae Miko Cosplay] Pink Hair and Red-and-White Shrine Maiden Attire: Capturing a Genshin Impact Studio Shoot

To me, constancy is a beautiful thing—like the wooden hair ornament worn in this long hair, or the red-and-white shrine maiden outfit. But oh dear, the mortal world is hardly so unchanging; every falling cherry blossom petal and every changing season gently speaks of change. When I decided to capture this set of Genshin Impact client photos in the studio, I knew it wasn't just a simple outfit showcase, but an attempt to freeze a unique charm belonging to this character between the shifts of light and shadow.

I believe many friends who have experienced Genshin Impact cosplay notice that the difficulty of recreating a character lies not only in finding the outfit, but also in capturing the overall temperament. For this shoot, the costume craftsmanship was quite delicate. The white halter top on the upper body used fabric with a pearlescent sheen, and the golden badge on the chest was embedded with clear, deep blue details. What I liked most were the separate wide water sleeves; the subtle patterns of the fabric flickered under the lights, and the bright red lining gave the outfit incredible visual tension. The waistband and spliced skirt design had a great sense of layering, especially the large red fabric pieces at the back of the skirt spliced with diamond patterns and hanging tassels, which produced a lovely flowing motion when moving.

The decorative details on the arms were also very thoughtful. That red-and-black ring decoration resembling a barrier, combined with a cut-out design, fit tightly against the arm. Every detail was not just for aesthetics; together they constructed a symbol system unique to this character. As for props, we prepared two sets to switch between. First was a high-saturation red paper umbrella, with distinct wooden ribs that created a unique interplay of light and shadow by blocking part of the light when opened; second was a staff topped with a red diamond-shaped paper talisman. These props were not just embellishments in the frame, but media helping me quickly get into character—holding them made me unconsciously straighten my back and expose a calm, confident stance.

In terms of makeup, the pink wig with excellent texture and layering was key to facial accuracy. Paired with light blue contacts, it gave the eyes a clearer and deeper look. The makeup artist handled the eye makeup cleanly, highlighting the character's signature lively feel while retaining my own facial features. In the studio, I wore a pair of red-and-white high-platform geta sandals, which indeed require adaptation in real life. Because they shift the lower body's center of gravity, special attention had to be paid to extending the leg line and supporting the ankle to complete single-leg stands or elegant sitting postures naturally during the shoot.

The entire set of photos was taken in a solid-color studio. The background used a slightly greyish ambient light emitting faint purple and soft tones. The photographer used a single main light from above and the side, making the skin look very translucent while nicely outlining the body contours. This clean background setup maximized the character's styling and color layers of the outfit, making the red-and-white contrast instantly noticeable.

In front of the camera, whether holding the oil-paper umbrella in contemplation with one hand or holding the staff with a calm expression, I hoped to capture that subtle aura of being detached yet knowing everything. For Genshin Impact cosplay, everyone has their own impression of a character. I did my best to recreate her pride and elegance, hoping through this set of photos to let everyone see my heart and effort in every recreation. This heart might just be that constancy I wish to maintain. In this ever-changing anime/gaming world, preserving a single moment through the lens is a truly meaningful thing in itself.
