This Genshin Impact Puppet Cosplay look actually took quite a lot of time in terms of costume details and makeup conception. The black-and-gold choker is the visual core, and the teardrop-shaped ruby pendant, paired with geometric golden borders, gives an overall heavy and solid texture that brings a stable sense of wrapping when worn around the neck. To match the character's slightly mechanical and exquisite setting in the original work, I specially chose a pale gold wig paired with straight bangs on the forehead, which beautifully shapes the facial contours and proportions while weakening aggressiveness, adding a touch of gentleness.
The blue colored contacts might seem a bit out of place in the overall makeup, but through the blending of eyeshadow and the refinement of eyeliner, they instead form a contrast between cool and warm colors, making the gaze appear more focused. The eye makeup didn't undergo overly complex adjustments, striving to present a clean but deep state in front of the lens. Under the natural light inside the car, this combination of makeup and apparel appears relatively vivid, capturing a certain texture without the need for extra strong fill-lights.
Everyone might have noticed in the post description that I mentioned an apology for being OOC. In fact, it's inevitable to have such worries every time portraying a character, because to completely capture 100% of the character's native cold and even slightly dangerous temperament, besides the enhancement of the costume, mastering the demeanor indeed requires more practice. However, choosing to shoot in a lifelike scene like a car interior this time was actually to break some dimensional walls, integrating the character's elements into a casual cosplay routine. The stiff material of the choker paired with the dark red velvet texture of the collar edge I wore created variations in luster reflected under the light, which was a pleasant little surprise during the shoot.
During the early preparation process, styling and setting the wig was actually the most tedious part. We had to ensure the puffiness of the bangs and the natural curvature of the hair on both sides to wear it with a natural flow that moves with the wind, rather than a rigid, thick wig cap. The choice of colored contacts this time also went through a round of trial-and-error, because a hair color or eye color that is too light or too deep will affect the expression of the gaze. Ultimately, I selected this bright blue to neutralize the overall warm tone of the wig and colored contacts.
As for the shooting process, in a confined space like a car, the lens distance and composition trade-offs actually need consideration. Through a slightly closer shot scale, the neck choker and facial expressions are highlighted, which not only allows the costume's highlight details to be seen at a glance but also avoids the cluttered background inside the car from distracting the eyes. Sometimes, without intentionally preparing a large number of outdoor props, this kind of on-the-spot shooting is instead more relaxing, allowing more focus on the delivery of internal emotions.
Structuring this outfit and sitting in the car, looking out the window through the glass, truly gives an illusion of a character crossing boundaries. Although I am not a professional master of facial expression management, I am willing to slowly dig into the character's core in each attempt. Those exquisite metallic geometric lines, magnificent rubies, and cold makeup styling combine to create a relatively unique visual experience. It lacks the majestic aura of large scenes, but it has a quiet expression of love for the character during daily leisure time.
The world of Genshin Impact is vast, and being able to try and restore the appearance of one of its characters is a wonderful experience in itself. Although I selfishly noted an OOC apology this time, after the overall effect came out and I saw the collision of black-gold and cold blue in the photos, I still feel that all the makeup practice and clothing testing during this period were completely worth it. I hope this simple share allows everyone to experience another side of the Puppet's charm.
