Today, I'm sharing a teaser set from our official Honkai: Star Rail Himeko • Nova cosplay shoot. This session was practically a speedrun challenge; the window between receiving the armor and the shoot itself was incredibly tight, but fortunately, the final cuts turned out immensely satisfying. We poured considerable effort into wardrobe and styling for this shoot. The vibrant scarlet hair of Himeko • Nova is striking; when styling the wig, I paid close attention to layered texturing so it flowed smoothly while retaining dynamic volume. The crisp, clean tailoring of the red-and-white battle gown is complemented by gold star emblems and metallic hardware that gleam with refined texture under lighting. The spear prop in hand carried substantial weight, requiring a steady two-handed grip to project the character's formidable presence.
A special shout-out to Mango-gege for our set design on the day of the shoot. He helped construct the white Roman pillars and architectural backdrop, blanketing the steps with lush red blossoms. The Gothic rose window behind me, synchronized with on-set lighting, evoked a sacred and magnificent ambiance. To match the grand visual tension of this space, I designed poses around unconventional low-angle perspectives, stretching my silhouette alongside the extended spear to amplify dramatic impact. When the backlight struck, golden halos crowned my hair and crimson cape, sculpting sharp, three-dimensional rim light around my contours. Himeko carries a singular magnetism—mature, graceful, yet composed and resolute when facing the unknown. The Nova form introduces an even stronger commanding aura. In getting into character, I strove to channel the gentle warmth she preserves despite all she has weathered, using restrained, subtle expressions to convey a steadfast inner resolve.
Holding that suspended reclining pose while thrusting the spear upward with one hand was a genuine core workout; freezing in that position brought intense muscle ache, but seeing the glorious light and contours emerge on the camera monitor made every second worth it. The makeup and props harmonized seamlessly, balancing the character's sensual grace with the keen edge of a combatant. Regarding textile selection, this Nova armor features ample lustrous fabrics that shimmer with shifting hues under stage lights. To highlight this tactile quality, we enhanced the side-backlights to trace the garment's silhouettes with greater clarity. The vivid contrast between scarlet blossoms and ivory pillars introduced rich depth to every frame. Pulling off this shoot was a triumph of teamwork across front and backstage, refining every nuance from makeup to props to stay true to canon. This collaboration was an absolute pleasure, and more official cuts will be coming soon!
