[Honkai: Star Rail Aventurine and Topaz Cosplay] The Wonderful Fan-made Scene of Swapping Fox and Rabbit Ears

From the visual presentation of the photos, this shoot is an Aventurine and Topaz cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail, featuring a fun "Fox & Rabbit AU" concept with interchangeable animal ears.

Partnering up with @南了个北 for this shoot, the overall vibe presented a wonderful chemical reaction that fits their character dynamic while staying playfully lighthearted. On the left side of the photo is the blonde character I portrayed (Aventurine), wearing a pair of fluffy white rabbit ears with soft pink gradient roots. I wore standard uniform styling with a white dress shirt, black tie, and a watch featuring a green dial and gold frame. The character's silver-blue pupils look bright under indoor lighting, and the clean makeup paired with blonde hair gives an energetic impression. Although wearing cute rabbit ears, the gaze and expression bring out a playful, casual cosplay interaction feel, completely distinct from the game's serious corporate atmosphere.

On the right is my partner @南了个北 portraying the white-haired character (Topaz), who wore a pair of animal ears with black rims and gray fluff (designated as fox ears for this theme) and specifically added red highlights to the tips of her white hair. This red-and-white color clash is very eye-catching, creating strong visual contrast in front of the lens. The character on the right also wore blue contact lenses, paired with clean eye makeup and a subtly upturned smirk that perfectly captures her cheeky charm. The outfit combines an off-white striped shirt with a peacock blue apron-style jacket, complemented by a white smartwatch on the wrist. The peace sign gesture with her hand also retains her clever energy.

As for this interchangeable animal ears idea, it was actually one of the core highlights of the shoot. While the Fox & Rabbit AU originally aimed for a gap-moe effect, the two of us spontaneously decided to swap ear accessories. Unexpectedly, this "mismatch" turned out to fit their personalities surprisingly well. Accustomed to their default designs, these animal ears with a touch of wild charm unlocked an unexpected side of their characters, creating a unique hybrid fusion of uniform styling and beast ears.

The lighting at the location was soft indoor white light without overly dramatic warm or cool tones, aiming to preserve an authentic everyday texture. This had the advantage of clearly capturing our makeup details, wig strand textures, and garment stripes—including the black English lettering printed on the right character's apron. The background wall was a clean gray, keeping the visual focus directly on the characters' faces and upper bodies.

As a character exploration, when portraying corporate elites like Aventurine and Topaz from the game, we intentionally bypassed overly fancy battle outfits or evening gowns in favor of everyday shirts, ties, and aprons that carry a grounded employee vibe. Many of our understandings of their character traits were integrated into the makeup and expressions. To stay as faithful as possible, we not only spent considerable effort trimming the wigs to achieve a sleek finish, but also paid special attention to foundation coverage for high-definition close-ups, ensuring the blue eyes and hair colors stood out sharply on camera.

In terms of composition with two faces, the character on the right slightly occupied the foreground, using a downward pointing gesture to guide the viewer's eye. The character on the left leaned in slightly at an angle, highlighting the seamless chemistry between the two. When shooting double interactive themes, controlling the sync of both cosplayers' expressions is usually the hardest part, but luckily we were both very relaxed, resulting in a natural and easygoing presentation.

Because the animal ear headpieces are prominent features in the styling, we paid attention to their vertical angles and ensured they looked fluffy without collapsing, keeping the fur direction structured during movements. The black trim on the right character's fox ears subtly echoed the hair color accents at the tips, yielding a very satisfying level of overall look completion.

Documenting this fun, playful yet meticulously crafted photoshoot through this record is truly delightful. The two of us putting on swapped animal ears was a genuinely clever and delightful experiment.
