[Evernight & March 7th Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Lunar Corona Group Duo Photoshoot

Directly shot in an outdoor parking lot, this set of duo photos fully records our casual state as the Lunar Corona Group from Honkai: Star Rail. Placing Evernight and March 7th against a modern urban street backdrop gives a sense of characters breaking through the fourth wall.

For the outfits, we selected an academy style featuring white shirts and bowties. Evernight wore a classic black-and-white combination of a black bowtie, black skirt, and black shoes, while March 7th wore a pink ribbon bow paired with a matching pink pleated skirt. For accessories, we paid special attention to contact lens effects: Evernight's reddish-brown lenses created a striking color contrast with her silver-white wig, while March 7th's aqua-blue lenses and short pink hair presented the lively, vivid side of her character. To enhance character immersion, we also wore uniquely designed earrings, while omitting simple necklace-type accessories to stay faithful to the original design.

A subtle detail during the shoot was holding that red beverage cup. Shooting under direct outdoor sunlight is a challenge often faced. Natural light imparted a crisp highlight texture to the wigs, leading us to experiment with multiple angles to prevent harsh facial shadows. The white shirt collars and skirt pleats appeared richly layered under natural illumination, maintaining an overall relaxed ambience.

Regarding makeup and hair styling for this Honkai: Star Rail cosplay, I gave March 7th's pink wig a foundational trim and layered texturing to ensure an airy feel and detailed hair strands rather than a heavy wig cap; the inward curling at the tips was specifically styled using heat to match the reference art. Evernight's silver-white curly hair utilized styling products to maintain volume at the crown, accompanied by lively see-through bangs. For makeup, we strove to maintain the characters' signature sweet-yet-cool vibe: Evernight's makeup leaned toward a semi-matte, aloof aesthetic with light blush, focusing eye makeup on delicate eyeliner definition. March 7th exhibited more youthful pink sweetness, utilizing bright orange-pink eyeshadows paired with long lashes to effectively enlarge her eyes. For footwear, we picked black lace-up leather shoes that matched the JK style.

The Lunar Corona Group combination inherently possesses immense charm; portraying both Evernight and March 7th simultaneously provided stronger visual balance. Because of the interaction between two people, we avoided rigid posing in favor of capturing candid, relaxed moments akin to attending a convention or strolling through town. The candid shot drinking beverages aligned seamlessly with the casual everyday vibe we wanted to convey; there was no need to force a contrived narrative, as natural interaction represented the best state.

Before embarking on Evernight cosplay, I carefully reviewed her character settings—including her gaze and postures—striving to reasonably portray her through personal interpretation while capturing her balance of cool detachment and gentle sweetness. Similarly, for March 7th, the focus was placed on emphasizing brightness and curiosity, so her expressions and gaze were designed to look vibrant and spirited.

Visually, the pairing of Evernight and March 7th creates a comfortable visual palette division with black, white, and pink. Outdoor shoots differ from studio shoots, involving plenty of on-the-spot adjustments—such as preventing squinting under intense sunlight or fixing wigs in gentle breezes. Although lacking exaggerated post-processing effects, such outdoor real-life shooting better highlights the vivid cross-dimensional feel inherent to Cosplay photography. Furthermore, close-up shots like holding beverages might look contrived in a studio setting, whereas holding them in natural outdoor light feels far more visually organic.

Being able to cosplay favorite characters with a friend and complete this shoot in a natural setting was a truly joyful experience. I strove to stay as close as possible to the temperament bestowed upon these two characters in the original work through makeup and outfit details. For a coser, putting effort into faithfully recreating character attire and expressions while enjoying the process is immensely meaningful. Of course, outdoor shoots always come with unexpected hiccups—like hair ruffled by wind or imperfect poses—yet these quirks form an indispensable part of the fun in outdoor photoshoots. This set of photos serves as a record of our present state and a concrete expression of our love for Honkai: Star Rail characters. I'm already contemplating how to challenge different outdoor shooting scenarios next time, such as night shoots, which would offer an entirely different style and atmosphere.
