This Azur Lane Cheshire Cosplay costume actually features an immense amount of detail, especially the dark blue lace trim on the sleeves, which, paired with the fluffy white puff sleeves, creates a rich and lightweight sense of layering. The black-and-gold bow tie beneath the collar adds a touch of formality, resembling an updated version of a naval Western dress. The hair accessories are one of my favorite parts—the oversized white lace cat-ear bow with long draping ribbons perfectly echoes the silver-grey base of the wig and its subtle cyan-blue streaks. I believe a great cosplay costume not only recreates the look, but also reveals its tactile beauty on camera, such as the jacquard craftsmanship and golden piping on the dark blue outer skirt, which held up with wonderful texture under the complex lighting of the Chinese anime & manga exhibition.

Wearing white tights with black Mary Jane shoes created sharp visual contrast, which also helped elongate the leg lines. During the shoot, the Black Cat Photography mentor suggested I do more leg raises and twirls to capture the fleeting moments of the flowing skirt and sculpted leg silhouettes. Because the dress itself is quite voluminous and features multiple trailing streamers in the back, spinning around could easily cause trips, requiring several practice runs in an open area beforehand. To convey that weightless elegance, I had to keep my back straight at all times, avoiding any slouching or fatigue from the costume's weight.

In addition, I deliberately carried Cheshire's signature anchor plushie to enhance interactivity; in the kneeling photos, the plushie served as a natural focal anchor for the composition, drawing the viewer's gaze effortlessly toward the subject. Wearing this outfit was truly a memorable experience. The outer dark blue skirt carries noticeable heft, and when combined with the headpieces and chain accessories, the entire ensemble is far from light. However, the moment those layered white tulle petticoats spun before the camera, that intricate blend of airy lightness and elaborate design was instantly brought to life in the frame.

Ultimately, shooting each convention photo offers a deeper understanding of the character's design. Cheshire naturally radiates playfulness and frank straightforwardness, so during eye contact, I tried to greet the lens with a lively, uninhibited gaze, hoping to convey that distinctive cat-girl aura. During post-processing, I insisted on preserving natural body proportions and contours to avoid over-editing that could strip away the candid realism of the camera. The final photos everyone sees here represent the most authentic state on the day of the shoot, polished with subtle adjustments.

At the same time, the lighting conditions at the convention venue were very intricate, with overhead grid lights competing with surrounding booth illumination, placing high demands on the photographer's lighting skills. Drawing upon extensive experience in convention photography, Black Cat Photography quickly calibrated the strobe output and used a wide aperture to blur the bustling background, placing the character firmly at the visual center. Despite the noisy surroundings, we both entered a focused zone, finding the calm poise and nimbleness that belong to Cheshire.

As for the cat-head hairstyle that people often tease, I trimmed the wig neatly this time, shaping the bangs so their curve just brushed the edges of my eyes, which, combined with the blue contact lenses, made the gaze look crystal clear. The blue lenses harmonized seamlessly with the overall cool-toned attire, lending a clean and sharp look to the makeup. In terms of posing, I avoided overly rigid or strictly realistic stances, as Cheshire demands an effortless, carefree relaxation. The frame reaching out toward the camera was not just a playful mock ambush, but also an attempt to break the fourth wall, giving viewers a genuine sense of interaction. Alongside the skirt twirls, I also captured several half-body and close-up stills to highlight the delicate lace on the neckline and sleeve cuffs. The contrast between the folds of white tulle and the texture of the blue skirt created a delightfully soothing balance, which are the elements I cherish most in these White tights convention photo results.
