This time I am presenting Joan of Arc from Azur Lane. The biggest challenge with this costume is the fabric texture and layering. The white tulle dress with a nightgown-style lace patchwork design, combined with a large blue velvet cloak and a fluffy furry shawl, is actually quite heavy to wear. To recreate that lightweight and holy visual effect, I intentionally toned down the colors in my makeup, emphasizing transparency and subtle shimmers. Paired with the blonde wig and hair accessories, the overall tone is unified between cool white and sapphire blue.
During the shoot, I specifically chose indoor warm lighting to neutralize some of the cool colors, making the sheer look of the white tulle softer. The combination of the skirt's high slit and the lace socks required repeated adjustments to look natural and not too tight, and the drape of the cloak also had to be hand-styled to create the right folds. This design, which leans towards a private wear style, actually demands a lot in terms of posture; both sitting and standing poses must avoid letting the fabric gather into unwanted lines. There are many details throughout the look, such as the pearl beading on the chest, the gold chains on the arms, and the bow on the back, all of which were focal points of this shoot. Although the preparation process was tedious, seeing the effect presented in the mirror made me feel that everything was worth it. I hope this combination with certain fantasy elements can convey the inherent temperament of the character itself.
