Bringing C.C. from a classic series into reality for this Retro anime cosplay felt truly incredible. Many friends called it a renaissance, as Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion remains an irreplaceable masterpiece in so many hearts. The trickiest part of doing a C.C. cosplay lies in capturing her haughty aloofness and that unearthly sense of mystery. To match her presence, we deliberately chose this tidal flat dotted with puddles, utilizing the Water reflection for composition, which elongated the overall silhouette beautifully. Framing with a low camera angle made the curves of the legs and physique stand out prominently in the final shots.
The outfit is crafted from a bodysuit material that fits snugly with a subtle sheen; to enhance the texture, I wore black Stockings underneath. Pairing this with sky-high over-the-knee boots was a genuine test of physical endurance, especially walking along uneven rocky flats and muddy puddles. My feet ached after standing for a while, and every step carried a risk of slipping, but the on-camera outcome made it completely worthwhile. For styling, the long green wig was detangled and groomed repeatedly. Paired with deliberate eyeliner techniques, the gaze couldn't be too soft—it had to convey a composed disdain that looks down on everything, combined with a hint of languid detachment.
Throughout the shoot, I continuously strove to capture that unique aura of an ancient, long-lived witch. The Water reflection was a major asset for this shoot, injecting a serene, dreamlike ambiance into the frame, while cool-toned post-processing made the green hair pop even more. Because of the high heels, careful, delicate standing contrasted nicely against ripples on the water's surface, creating a quiet harmony between stillness and motion. In composition and wardrobe styling, the trio of bodysuit, Stockings, and heels effectively elongated leg proportions, naturally focusing visual attention on the character's sleek legs and icy expressions.
Although this early character design poses mobility challenges—especially the overly wide sleeves and the risk of getting the fabric wet near the water—enduring these hassles was well worth it for an iconic 2D image etched in my heart. The makeup was also tailored to C.C.'s pale, aloof complexion from the original series, preserving her natural, otherworldly mystique. Under dim light against the backdrop where water met sky, the aura of untethered detachment and inscrutable depth she radiates was elevated effortlessly. The wind was fairly strong during shooting, but having the green hair billow in the breeze actually added to the adrift, soul-searching atmosphere. This shoot didn't rely on overly ornate rhetoric; it just faithfully captured the costume's texture, leg silhouettes, and character's cold detachment. I hope that through the stillness of these visuals, an authentic C.C. from the world of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion shines through. Wrapping up this shoot gave me a tremendous sense of achievement—it truly felt like faithfully restoring a classic character close to my heart.
